I had a Motion-Pro Merc stick (Basic model, but I can't find any difference between the basic and deluxe, except the color) and I sold it to a friend who wanted it. It didn't have adjustable dampeners, so I thought the mercury columns jumped around too much. Also, I had a fuel issue on one of my carbs (too much fuel) and one mercury column had a couple inches of gasoline in it. I had no idea how to get it out without spilling the mercury. If you start with a decent bike and have a way to dampen it (Maybe the deluxe model does), it would probably be OK. My $0.02.

I like how on the Carbtune you can just flip it upside down and tap the throttle to suck the gas out!

I have used one for many years. Use common sense ie don't really rev the engine up when it is connected, and it will last a lifetime. Replacement mercury is available if it gets low but it takes a long time for that to happen.

Blasty, I also have acquired a MPDeluxe synch tool - there are several "dampeners" to shove into the hoses, one per hose. The dampeners look like a little piece of plastic with a pinhole. I haven't used it yet - I sure don't want to be spilling the mercury. Instructions warn against sucking it into the engine - I think that's what MRieck is talking about.

I'm no engine tuner, but it seems to me that the engine needs to be under load to get the carb slides open enough for a proper synch. I think the throttle will just barely be cracked open at 3000 rpm and no load - maybe thats good enough.
