Cutting corners
« on: June 02, 2009, 07:15:51 PM »
or saving space ?

I'm getting a new motor in a few weeks time and it comes as standard with no spare wheel ???

It dose however come with an aerosol puncture repair canister in the event the car gets a flat.

Is this a cost cutter or a space saving idea. ???

i take it you mean a new car, and i think putting fix a flat in place of a spare tire is cutting corners. just my 2 cents.

I'm guessing it's some of both.  Although the space saving part is probably also motivated by cost cutting.

My car is the same Sam, except it has a compressor instead of the aerosol can. Still would prefer a spare tire. I purchased a tire plugger kit to supplement, but so far I haven't had to deal with it. Hope you don't have to either!
Congrats on the new wheels!

Ah the Panda.

Always was a $$ saver. Even if it was at the expense of the motorist. ;D

It's a get-you-home device, Sam. I think there's some serious considerations to take into account if you ever have to use it i.e speed and duration. It's the latest car manufacturer's cop-out to save space and weight.
Fiat Panda, eh? James May swears by his. I still prefer the old box style. Apparently there's a bloke in the uk that's done well over 300,000 miles with it.

I figure Sam (the stig) could carry the panda home. Or you could stick it in one of your side bags.

If they brought it to the states I think it might not be half bad as a city runabout.

So that's the spare car the manufacturer gives you to keep in the glove compartment?  Why worry about a spare tire then?  (I think you're asking an awful lot!)

BTW- what car (motor) did you get?
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Probably cause its getting more to the point people don't know HOW to change their car tire.

Is it a very thrifty car?
If so, that explains the scots accent in the advert. ;)

What's a trunk?  Looks like great all round visibility in that car Sam - what colour did you pick?

Trunk= back of the car where you put your stuff in if it doesn't fit on the back seat.

oh, and;

Bonnet= you lift this to take a look at the engine.

how do say those in yank?

I don't know Rhos, I try to stay away from those guys ;)   I was trying to pull Sams' leg thinking there was a real Brit term for the trunk like there is for the bonnet/hood.   Joke's on me. ;D
