Are you sure you posted this in the right area?

If you are in the US, the '84 is likely to not be a SOHC.

Yup.

Even the Clymer manual I have states that.

You can do a shadetree mechanic trick and run slightly different heat range plugs on the 2 inner cylinders though.
Not sure if it's really worth it though.

Yes you are in the "other bikes" section so pefectly fine.  Soos was most likely cranky cause I sent him the wrong wheel ;D.   I might be able to borrow a gun and check mine this weekend.

checking your sparkplugs will tell ya if the jetting is right.....

you will have to do a "pug chop" for that.......ride the bike, give her WOT for a bit(doesn't have to be 5th gear,as long as theirs a good load on the motor) then pull in the clutch and kill the engine right away....freewheel back to your shop/garage,let cool down for a bit and then pull your spark plugs out......by looking at thew color of the tips you can see how she is jetted.....
Marti, I want you to know, I like you an awful lot, but guys have said far less and left wearing their drinks on their shirts.

no it took glen a day or so to move the thread to the proper place....
And yes I was having a bad day, nothing to do with you 650.(BTW,  PM on the way 650)
Sorry for snipping at you there..

Oh, and as far as a 50 degree difference, my cb650 has the inner two running about 40-45 degrees hotter than the outer two. depending on the RPM I hold the motor at.

So (IMO) nothing too major there.

My cb650 is a '79 with lots of mods, ignition, pistons, carbs, oil cooler, and on, and on...

Although a plug chop can't hurt by any means though.
Lots of threads on the subject.

Honda built a DOHC 650? don't think they got to New Zealand!
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Yes in the states it was made from 83 to 87 or 88.  Have seen a 87 but not shure when the stopped.  Shaft drive 6 speed.  A couple of the new members on the 650 site posted pics of them.
