Your drag race song
« on: June 03, 2009, 05:25:24 PM »
Picture it, you're lined up at the line.  Engine warmed up, tires burned for traction.  The smell of exhaust gasses.  Noise level near the threshold of pain.

You've just been challenged to a drag race.  The kid on the crotch rocket has just called your SOHC a "grandpa bike," and you're going to let that remark slide as if he'd just called your mother a two-bit potato picker - that is to say, them's fightin' words.   >:(

So you're lined up.  The race is on.  And to get yourself psyched up, a song comes into your head.  A song that gets you so pumped that you could beat that kid-rocketeer on foot.

For me, that song is Come on Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners.

What's your drag race song?

 :)

In all my rounds I cant say I was thinking of any song.  I would say the drums at the beginning in to hot for teacher is most like a killer engine.  video is hard on the eyes though ::).

Hey Sam, I'm With You on the Beach Boys Stuff! 8) ;) And as far as the Rap with a "C" in front of it,  That is EXACTLY what my Daughter calls it! :D :D

One of my favorite Drag Race Songs is "Shut Down" (the name of the group slips my mind, at the present) and (for those who don't know) goes

" It happened on the strip where the road is wide
two cool shorts sitting side by side
my fuel injected Stingray and a 413
revving up their engines and it sounds real mean..... "

Now, in the song, the Stingray puts down the 413
Dodge, but sometime in the 80's, there was an
actual race between a fuel injected 327 Stingray and
a 413 Dodge and the Dodge put in on the vette. Now, I
don't know which 413 they used in the actual race, but
there was a high pergormance version that was rated at
420hp with about 13 to 1 comp ratio with a short Ram
Inducted Dual Quad setup on top, to start with.

I used to do quad racing and on the way to the race track I played this song on repeat.....

Then when I was standing with the front wheels against the starting gate, engine going nuts on the reff limiter, tranny in second gear, the girl just held the 30 second sign sideways what means within 5 seconds the gate drops.....stare at the gate, engine still screaming at the reff limiter, gate drops....GO...!!!!!!!

all that time that song would be in my head....gave me a kick and adrenaline...

and here is my race quad, still have it,don't really race anymore... :'( :'(

and here she makes noise..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Marti, I want you to know, I like you an awful lot, but guys have said far less and left wearing their drinks on their shirts.

Same here!

I really get into thrashing my bike with that song running through my head.

I had it running through my head yesterday up on a canyon ride, while passing lots of bagger HD's and their tie wearing owners.

Amazing how many take a hairpin turn with their feet down, doing 3 miles an hour.
Mind you no helmut, jacket or pants... unless they had HD blazing on it.
Felt good to know a punk on a 30 year old bike can outdo the average HD rider. ;D
Mabey the tie was choking them, clouding their minds? ::) ::)

I loved hugging the corner, passing them on the inner edge of the turn.(within my lane that is)
Thank god for mountains and twisties!!!!  8)
Now if they would only stop parking on the road in the middle of the twisties! :o
Mabey it's darwin's theory at work there? :(
