Anyone have shifting problems with K0 750 or Sandcast?
« on: June 04, 2009, 08:52:01 pm »
Just wondering on this 69 lower end, it has the early stuff. It was used till around 26K or 42K in the serial # range.

I would prefer to keep it all early stuff unless there is a good reason to change it out to later parts. Any thoughts?

There was a modified selector drum to aid gear retention, details should be in one of the bulletins elswhere

Hi,
I was thinking the same thing when I assembled the bottom end on my sandcast. I had new parts in hand to assemble as original or with new updated parts. Since it shifted well for 90 k miles, I used original style. I can always update later.
Hope this helps.

When rebuilt my K0 750 18 months ago I had this very discussion with Hondaman. Both the K0 tranny and a later tranny that came with the bike were in excellent shape. I ended up gong with the later tranny because he told me that the brass bushings in the K0 tranny were subject to premature wear. Other than that, either is equivalent. We did not talk, at the time, about shift fork drums.

Hope this is helpful to you.
