77 750 K frame quirk.
« on: June 04, 2009, 09:00:35 pm »
Saw this today, have never ever seen or heard of this.

1080 has a 77 K frame, that has different front top motor mounts.

Usually the right front mount above the oil filter on 750s has a removable plate, to aid in engine removal. This means there are 2 bushings  welded to holes   going thru the frame tube. The left side, on every one I remember has a welded on forging or lug with the mount hole thru it.

So I go over and look at it, and it has the welded thru frame bushings, on BOTH sides. anyone ever seen this ???

We checked 2 other 78 frames and none were like that?..

Is it an Auto frame?
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Pretty sure its not, asked if the build date was on it, he said 77..I  could see the  2 lower frame tubes under the tank.

I could see if it happened near the end of the run, like the serial # pad being moved.

I am thinking, maybe 2 frame building lines?
