Did Keihin carburetor factory Black were ever produced?
« on: May 30, 2009, 08:46:33 pm »
I have a question for you experts...
I own a CB750 K5; it has Kehin carburetors with Black body.
The carbs were said to be originals and it looks like they are from the inside out (they are currently disassembled in my garage).
Could the black body be factory or is it a customization?

No black Keihins on 750s
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Unless they are genuine race kit - some of the keihins got produced with magnesium bodies and they were painted black to protect the magnesium from deterioration...

Were the Racing Kit Carburetor a common (at least offered) option on the CB750 K5?
The more I looked at the carbs the more I think they were not painted afterward...

I thought about painting mine black at one point but then thought it would be a big pain in the ass AND it would most likely come off when it was time to dip and rebuild them again.

But those sure do look sharp!

I painted mine black.

Wasn't that big of a pain - just had to take the rack apart and do plenty of taping :D

Are you able to measure the venturi on those carbs?

Look sweet either way.
