Is this dangerous? Center stand Question

I removed my center stand last summer.  I haven't had any need for major work on the bike until yesterday.  So I put the center stand back on, but I realized I have absolutely no intention of riding with it on and I'm going to take it off as soon as I'm done working on the bike.  My question is: If I have no intention of riding the bike, and am going to take the stand off as soon as I'm done, do I really need to put the whole contraption together?  I didn't reinstall the spring or the cotter-pin or the bolts.  I just easily slid the rod through the frame and the stand.  Took me three seconds to reinstall and propped the bike right up.  Is this okay?

Should be ok, I don't think you're the first to do it that way.

Many people do this as a jack-alternative.  It makes service like draining the oil easier than using the kickstand.

The dowel for mine is hard to get in there so I just jam a piece of rebar through the hole when I need the centerstand. No problems yet ;D
