What an ASSININE FORUM !
« on: June 06, 2009, 06:58:10 PM »
Boy, talk about a bunch of ASSh&les that run this forum (motorcycleforum.com) They have more rules and restrictions than you can shake a stick at. Not allowed to EVER post a link to another forum. Have to have at least 15 posts before you can even post a pic.

Here is a pm that I received when I answered a guys question on a SOHC4 bike........

FYI our forum owner does not like the advertising of other forums here. I deleted your post. I know it sucks not to be able to share info...but don't let anyone catch you doing it again.

Sorry for seeming bewildered, but I really am.

Answer:
Well back in the day that is how this forum started. However it was sold to Crowdgather who goes around buying up forums and runs them like businesses and not communities. So what was once established as place to “share info and ideas” is now just a money generator. But we try to make the best of it. Just follow the rules however stupid they may seem because there are a lot of good people here and a wealth on knowledge to enjoy. Just mind your step.

WHAT A WASTE OF INTERNET SPACE. NOT WORTH WASTING ANYTIME THERE FOLKS. I AM DELETEING MY ACCOUNT.

They should be aware of the part of human nature that makes us prone to only remember the negative.  And in this case(as you are doing here) you will tell people.  I was on one forum that every one of my posts had to by reviewed by a mod before it would actually post.  I don't know where the point was where I wouldn't have to go through that.  You would think that after 10 or 15 posts, one might have an idea whether I knew what I was talking about.  I was getting near 40 and gave up.

Was on the forum and well didn't really get any help.   I found more help here on my build then their.   seems like running i as a business wasn't the best way to go.  I started a forum a few years back and gave it to my good friend to run. Never in my mind would I have sold it.
Keep it shinny side up.

Unfortunately it's not the only forum like that. Here's a cut/paste from an off road forum talking about a forum with similar rules.

Quote
Little background:
-JK-forum run be Eddie (wayoflife) believes in strict product censorship.
-If you are with a vendor/magazine/company you must pay his fee for sponsorship to sign up. Like if a guy name Bill from a vendor signed up just as Bill and not for the vendor he still could not post without paying because he is associated with the vendor.
-Some companies are listed as “black list” companies such as Poly Performance. If you type in Poly Performance and hit the post button it will show up as **** *************. If you post a picture of your rig or a link to any black listed vendors you are banned. I was banned for posting pictures of a bumper from a non-sponsor.
-Private messages are not private and are moderated.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

Thankfully we have a much better deal here at SOHC4, lets keep it that way please. :)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

The same thing happened to radio.  Really too bad.

Shop at Wal-mart, send another job to China.
It would be interesting to find out why the people who hang at that forum do so.  What could they be getting out of it?

Amen.  We really do have a great forum, and the moderators are super!  The idea of "self policing" works here for sure, and even though there a few that bend the rules, for the most part, everyone behaves themselves.
I only subscribed to one other forum, and I have been there only 3 times in the past 6 months.  This forum, I read at least 4 times a day since I enjoy it so much.

+1 Me too; I love this forum, I would come here even more if I had a comp. at home, when I do I will be able to show my wife all the great people and bikes on here.

Also let this be a good reminder folks to thank our great MODs here and donate to the forum, keeps the advertisements to a minimum and ease the financial pain of running this site, I have donated 10 bones this year and plan on donating again in about a month as soon as I can afford it. If each just do that it will make an enormous differecne for those guys. 8) 8)

This place was the 1st Forum I found and joined AND, unless I get run off, I fully intend to be here for as long as I'm able. Plenty of Great Folks here, lots of Great Bikes AND an overabundance of experience and information.

I belong to a few others as well, but THIS ONE is my Mainstay! Too bad about the ones that are so overly restricted AND policed.

Have donated and I will again. But now that I am furloughed from my flying job, I use my talents? to work on the artwork for the forums pins and patches, not asking for any reimbursement for the time donated. This board and the VJOMC boards are my main hangouts. I went to that forum for additional info and associations. It was a mistake! Horrible place! Talked to me like I was a criminal and that they let me off easy with a warning for breaking the law.

Well, you "will be tamed"...is the outlook of the land, unfortunately in many respects. Guess it just got to some forums,
By the way,....was that forum hosted in China? I hear they have a lot of rules.

Maybe each one of us should join up over there and PM the link to this thread, to the mods.  Not post it to the general population.  It would never see the light of day there anyway.  But maybe if the mods over there see how a forum should be run, it might make it better for the members there.

I do have to say, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be a "kiss my a$$, I'm outta here" thread.  This should be a lesson to us all when starting a thread, and thinking of a proper title. ;D ;D  I'm glad I was wrong.

Actually, I regret even posting the actual forum website now. Why give them ANY publicity even if it is the BAD kind. I am not sure where it is hosted at and I really don't care. It is not worth any more of my time. This will be my last post on this thread about them. I will only respond to this forum's members questions and will not mention that forum again. Folks..... ENJOY this place! Best forum I have ever used. VJOMC takes 2nd place.
