Tendonitis in right arm, bummed
« on: June 07, 2009, 05:01:59 PM »
Office work of all things has taken its toll on my right arm and given me Golfer's elbow. I have found out that years of resting my forearm/elbow in my desk while typing has done some damage. The pain radiates from my elbow, forearm and wrist.

I know it's not permanent which is the good thing, but the bad thing is that I have to rest it as much as possible. Not hard to do in the winter, but in the summer, I dont know how much working the throttle on my bike will aggravate it. So for now, Im using a throttle rocker so I can relax my grip and ease the strain on my forearm as I cruise.

And of course, I have the PD carbs on my 750k7 which has the Incredible Hulk inspired throttle return spring on it...

I have a good strap that incorporates a raised "puck" that puts a little pressure on the tendons and really helps.

If you don't have one already, I'd suggest it.

I got tendonitis at age 20 in boot camp in my right wrist. That sucked.

Hey guys, thanks.

Actually tennis elbow is referred to tendinitis to the outside elbow tendons. Golfers is on the inside, which my arm rests on the desk when I work and the repetitive nature of the keyboard and mouse. I've moved my station around and it's helping. Im also using warm packs and some stretching. It's improved a lot in a week, but has a way to go. But recognizing what to do differently at my work station has made the best improvement.

I was lucky enough that mine went away.  Got a courtezone (sp) shot to start the recovery but it took months & months.  It was so bad I couldn't lift just about anything with my hand.  Guess I was just lucky.  Good luck to ya.

Yeah, Im doing a lot better now. Almost zero discomfort. It was all due to resting my elbows/forearms on the desk while I typed. The physical therapist gave me stretches and I would say it's going well and should heal up totally in a few weeks. My grip is getting stronger each day too. I didnt have the tendinitis so bad that I had extreme pain, just a lot of discomfort so luckily no shots were needed.

There is a wrist support that was given to me.  Strange I thought since my pain was in the elbow but the Dr. told me the pain stemmed actually from the junction of the hand/wrist when it flexed.  I wore that when the pain was real bad.  He did give me exercises but, not too smart, I only did them for a short time.  I should probably do them now as a matter of course even though the pain has been gone over a year.

Yeah, I've been wrapping my elbow and using the wrist splint just so I cant over use my arm. Stretch everyday!

I've got this in both arms.  Hurts to lift a cup of coffee with my left, and really hurts to straighten it out after it's been bent for a while.

Doesn't hurt when I ride though :)  I'll rest them this winter.
