Yeah, we drink beer in and around Denver.  ;D  Just depends on when.

Map this out and look them up. Monument Valley (unforgettable) US163N/E, US191N/E, Right at Monticello on US491N, CO184E to Delores, CO145N to Telluride. This stretch is awesome. Camp in Telluride. CO145W, CO62E/N, US550N, US50E, US285N, US24N, CO82 across Independence Pass (another unforgettable) in Aspen, I70E, US40N, across Berthoud Pass, US34E through Rocky Mountain National Park via Trail Ridge Road (unforgettable) into Estes Park then onto Ft Collins or Heffay's place in Lafayette. He won't mind  ;)

Bring warm gear. Those 12,000 ft passes can get cold.

Silver falls state park just east of Salem, Or. is exceptional.
Google it, it's on the way from Portland to Eugene and not very far out of the way.

Looks like you'll miss Santa Fe by a few hours - Too bad because the barman at the El Matador sells tequila by the glass.

no beers unless you travel WAY south.
Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.
