Any old machine is going to have it's quirks. Having to close the choke for a second or flick the throttle before starting isn't a very big deal. I'm not saying these bikes can't be made to run like new again, but unless you're willing to spend that much money and time to get it to new condition it isn't going to happen, and you'll just drive yourself crazy trying to fix every little quirk. Besides, as long as something isn't a huge pain in the ass or keeps you from being able to ride, things like this are what add a little extra charm to owning an old bike.
