I'm selling my 1977 550K locally and am having a difficult time deciding on a price that's reasonable for myself and the buyer. First the facts about the bike. I bought it for $1000 from a guy who 'neglected' to tell me about a serious carb issue. Since having the bike i've invested about $700 in new tires, new battery, broken taillight, and a new carb. Everything on the bike works well. It runs well, idles well and is in solid condition EXCEPT for an oil weep off of the left side of the motor which, from consulting this forum, seems to be the result of a worn head gasket.
The potential buyer is looking for his first bike to ride locally. It doesn't seem as if he intends on putting any money into the bike and he shouldn't need to considering it'll remain in the same condition it is now for the rest of the season (by my calculations). He said he'd be looking to pay around $1000 - $1100. I just looked and the KBB value is $790.
Putting everything together, i'm highly considering calling him tomorrow and telling him $1050 takes it.
What do you guys think.
