finaly named the gang.
« on: November 09, 2005, 09:53:47 AM »
I was goofing around with my buddy about what to name our "gang". Initially we were going to call ourselves the skunks because of all the black leather, judging by the response to my avatar I think we should call ourselves the possums of course we will need to have back patches made and get the requisite tattoos to aid in recruitment.  VROOM VROOM HISS HISS.

THATS a possum?? :o I thought it was a Tasmanian Devil! Our Crown Prince and his Princess from down under just had a nipper, and the people of Tasmania made them a present of two ... Tasmanian Devils. Apart from the subtle insult (NOT!) it appears that all Tasmanian Devils are riddled with disease. Nice!

That reminds me of a Simpsons episode. You should name your gang "Hell's Satans".  HAHAHAHAHA

Sorry, but the idea of a gang called the "possums" makes me think of Dame Edna.

now there is an idea, a cross dressing motorcycle gang that unleashes bad humor on all of its rivals. Maybe I'll stick with the skunks.

How about "The Blue Oyster"? If they ask you why the name, you can always say it's a homage to Blue Oyster Cult. Leather chaps and moustaches can be misleading though....

Wasn't The Blue Oyster the name of the gay biker bar in the Police Academy movies?

thats what came to mind when I read "The Blue Oyster",  I don't think I would want my gang pegged with that name.  Could get in deep S*&t or visa/versa.

In the 1970's there was a Movie with Martin Mull and Tuesday Weld call "The Serial".  The famed English Vampire actor Christopher Lee appears as the leader of a gay motorcycle club in San Francisco........
"The Road Reamers"

Now that looked good on the back of a leather jacket.

to be truthful, I haven't got the foggiest.  They where on the bike when I bought it.  Although the bags and the fairing strike me as very early Wing.

I have been looking for bags, and debating on hard vs. soft cases. Period hard cases seem few and far between, however. I'll keep looking on ebay. Thanks!

Check BMW sites. I think the old Wixom bags would look good. Also, someone is making the old-style Harley bags again. Can't remember whee i've seen the ads... Antique Motorcycle Club mag or Walnecks maybe?

My bags, (not bag, Terry) are starting to show their age, couple big cracks in the plastic so I'm thinking I might make up a form and make a couple of fiberglass copies.  I'll keep you in mind if I get time to make them.

Those look like the Bates bags from the late 60's early 70's.  They come up on Ebay and I think there is a set on the portland craigs list motorcycle section for $80.00.

Bates was the name I found from some older posts on this forum. The cases look good, but the mounting hardware makes me a little suspicious. If anybody, including you, has good close ups of the business end of the mounting hardware, please post them for reference. I have seen some Bates on ebay, but some don't include hardware, or if they do, there is no detail. Overal, the prices seem reasonable compared to "new" stuff.

Thanks!

Just digressing back to your original post, it might be unhealthy for your "club" to wear anything like a "patch" on your back, I know one guy who innocently made up his own patch and was accosted by some very serious outlaw bikers who suggested that he should remove the patch (right there on the side of the road) before they removed him from his mortal coil. Something to do with outlaw club etiquette, I'm lead to believe................. Maybe a nice shoulder patch instead?

Don't put "MC" on it either, the Hells Angels actually own that registered trade mark, and I don't think they'll be happy if you use it without their permission. Of course if you like living dangerously, how about "Road Kill" for a club name? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Don't think we will make any patches. as for the shenanigans of outlaw biker gangs, there are ways of dealing with that crowd.
