Wiring out the Kil Switch
« on: June 10, 2009, 09:10:54 AM »
I'm waiting for a new kill switch that Jonesey has been kind enough to send my way.

To pass the time waiting, I'd like to get my freshly re-built carb banks set up and going... but I can't without a working ignition sys.

Is it safe/practical to just wire the switch out of the system for the purpose of fiddling with my carbs? If so, how can I go about it?

I was thinking of just setting up a wire with a male bullet connector on each end and bridging the connection by the coils.

Thanks for all of your insight - past present and future.

No idea which bike you have.  But usually, the "Kill" switch makes a connection from the black wire distribution to the coil Black/white wire.  "Killing" the bike opens that connection.  So, you just need to connect Black to Blacke/White to have the bike run with the Key switch on.
