purpose of switch in the clutch perch?

Hey guys, I was wondering what purpose the switch in the clutch perch serves? Im talking about the one that gets actuadted when the clutch lever is pulled and released. Thanks

kills the starter. so you cant start the bike with the clutch out.

Yes, it i supposed to keep the bike from starting with the drive wheel engaged.

thanks guys. that might explain why the bike wouldnt work with the universal perch and lever i bought after the original perch broke at the adjustment screw

just wire the switch leads together, and stuff it in the headlight bucket.

already purchased a replacement stock left controls/perch unit so no need for the universal ones anymore
