Hey guys, thinking of picking up this 77 cb750 in town. Goal is to create simple cafe style ride. Nothing to extreme, throw a stock seat on (i need room for two), some clubmans or a drag bar, paint, i'd like to update the suspension ect. .
Guy says it runs mint, carbs rebuilt 2 years ago no rust in tank newish tires. Comes with shoei hard bags.

I'm going to see it tomorrow so we'll have to wait and see. BTW asking price is $700 what do you think?

Minus the ugly seat that's actually quite a steal if it runs well, looks great.

It looks really clean aside from that ridiculous seat.  It all depends on your area, but people around here are asking for more money for bikes that don't run.  Johnie (member here) came up with a list of questions to ask when buying a bike.  It is at the bottom of this post:

I'd say go for it.

I know I hate the seat.
I want to pick up a supersport f tank but was wondering what seat would bolt on? Would the stock k seat fit? or do i need a f seat?

I don't know -  with that seat and hard luggage, painted head light, etc. I think it's a bit of a looker in it's own way ;D

Under a $1 a cc that's a pretty good guide.
My input will cost you those ugly pannier bags you can't use on a cafe anyway. :D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

This bike looks good, and the price is pretty good (In Europe it will be more expensive). I think you may have to change this ugly seat before you go out in the street with her.........or you will have a ridiculus ride......  :o

That seat might look ugly but i bet it would be a lot more comfortable than a cafe seat on any distance trip. :D

The bike appears to be a 77k.  The tank is definitely a 77/78k.  So a stock 77/78K seat will bolt on and match up perfectly with your current tank.  An F tank will mount up but will not work with the K seat so you would need the F seat as well.

Hey another Ottawa lad, welcome.

If it runs and is only $700 it's a steal.

Yeah, that looks like a clean start to a bike. You can do a lot with the 77/78 K's.

See.

Great find!! Buy it before its GONE! I like the bags. When I bought my 75cb550F it has a K tank on it now, but the previous owner threw in 2  yes   TWO  F tanks  ;). One has rust holes in the bottom[ not sure if that can be fixed, another question for another thread] and the other has been media blasted and is ready for paint.

You could always cut up the rusty one for a seat tail hump.

By chance does anybody have a stock K seat?

What are my other options for a cool tank but still using a seat that can fit two people (my fat ass and my gf;s small one?)

The 77/78 tanks are longer than the 70-76 tanks. You could measure the 77/78 tank and see if it's close to the 750F tanks which are longer. Who knows, it might be close, but fit. Does this all make sense?

One tip on the clubman bars and a stock seat. Don’t do it if you like your wrist and back. You'll need a lower seat height with the clubmans.

I was actually going to attempt what you did to your tank if I can get myself a spare. I love your knee indents.

Little update. My brothers actually the one going to see it because i'm in Victoria, BC at the moment and he ran late at school last night and didn't get a chance to go. Apparently tonight is the night. I told him what to look for and gave him the go ahead if it looks good. Pretty excited, I may have a new bike when i get home!!

Alan I had thought about that. I had seen some on dotheton. I am just not that crafty. My idea, if were to do it, would be something I could remove as needed and keep the stock seat. My wife may wanna come for a ride.
