78 750f clutch issues
« on: June 15, 2009, 04:14:02 PM »
Hey guys, trying to get my new bike street worthy and kinda hit a brick wall. The clutch lever was very hard to pull so I replaced the cable and adjusted the cable and the adjustment screw under the cover correctly. Since the bike is now up and running I decided to test it and see if it goes. Well when I pull the clutch lever in, as soon as I shift into first the bike lurches forward and shuts off. Is the clutch possibly installed wrong? The bike wasnt running when I got it so Im not sure if it worked before or not. I was told previous owner replaced the clutch plates and that the hard lever was due to possibly not adjusting the warm drive screw. Im new to bike so Im thinking maybe the PO put something in wrong. I would like to avoid pulling the clutch but will if I have to. Just looking for some other suggestions. Thanks

Nick
