1975 "750" left over part??
« on: June 16, 2009, 06:05:37 AM »
Anyone know where this goes ::).  Seems to be a left over after I did carbs, front caliper and master cylinder.  I don't think it's a carb piece since the're all together.  Caliper is still apart as is MC but  :( I don't know where this piece could go.  It has wear markings part way down maybe from a locking screw.  Thanks and I'll try to label these better going forward ;D.

Thanks buds, will check as a float pin tonight.  I think I would have known if I missed putting a float pin in, but who knows?

I just measured a float pin from a set of 086A carbs and it was 1 1/8" long.  The pin in the picture looks like its 1 5/8 long.  I'm stumped.

Hi Mark,
Yup, 1 5/8" exactly.  Next thing for me to do is look at a Parts Manual.  Thanks,

No afraid not - I have the pair of Sears CC pliers and that's not a part of it.

What an idiot (me) :-[ >:(.  Should know better after all these years about bagging parts.
Thanks all you guys for your help.  It's on me now.

Not to belabor this ;), but I looked (twice) in the 750 parts manual and this "pin" doesn't seem to exist.  What I'm attributing this too, is:
1.  too small a workbench with not enough room to seperate parts/jobs
2.  too many car and Motorcycle projects going on (even though with the other projects,   I don't see where this would go) and
3  me not known, at least by my wife, for being too neat

Still hoping to find a home for this piece somewhere though ::).  Thanks all again.

If everything works and nothing leaks it is what is known as a wee bit.

Place in open palm of hand horizontal in front of you and bend arm sharply upwards at the elbow whilst saying "WEEEEEEE"

Its a good idea to keep eyes closed whilst performing this incantation as if you suddenly find it was important it adds to the fun of not having a bloody clue of where it went!!!
