So the other day my goal was to get the neck bearings in after work. When i got to work i realized that i forgot to put the in the freezer. Luckily a guy at work just happened to have a chunk of dry ice in his cooler. So I was really in business. I flipped the FRANKENSTAND over and placed the races in the ice.

installed the lower race

Then took a break

Back to work.

I am off for the weekend so I will shoot to complete the engine and get the swing arm into the frame. Maybe even get the front end back on.

Hondaman said the my 1973 chrome swing arm should swap right into the 1976 frame. So we are going to have a MOTORCYCLES,MACHINE GUNS,AND MILLER HIGHLIFE WEEKEND !

Got some more stuff done this weekend. Tank and tail is painted , stripes are on. going to try to get engine back in on saturday !

Man was thinking about powder coating my frame black again but after seeing the red I kinda want to do a color other then black.

I started to assemble the front end and ran into another snag. I have 3 front ends 73k,76k,and 78f. The 73k lowers are good but the tubes are 6" over stock. 76k lowers are kinda beat up and tubes are rusted. The 78f tubes are good but of course i can't use the lowers because of the dual discs and mag wheel. I pm'ed honda man to see what i have to do to use the 73k lowers with the 78f tubes.

yea they are. was it hard to change the faces? my tach face is messed up and wanted to change them to a white face or something.

I've put that combination together before, actually it was 73 lowers and 78 K tubes. One cool feature is that the 73 lowers are shorter than the 78 lowers, so your seals rest a little further down the tubes than they would have if you used 78 lowers.

I used the 73 lowers and innards with 78 tubes and preload spacers. The assembled forks are about 1/2" longer (I forget exactly) and I used 8 oz. of fork oil.

That is what i am probaly going to do, use the 73 lowers and the tubes from the 78f. I am not going to be happy if they are going to turn out longer thou.

what type of engine paint did you use? I was going to use a wrinkle finish on the whole thing... i like the flat black look though.

Go buy some vht high temp engine paint. My dad has used that stuff for years and swears by it. I've used it and have not had any problems. And they come in some awesome colors too.

I used rustoleum engine paint. I used the low gloss black. They also make a semi and a gloss.

VERY nice bike, great job on the gauges, the graphics on the tank and tail look REALLY cool. The trashcan is awesome, the water craft was totally cool. And the bike engine is absolutely beautiful.

Did you have any trouble with Old Bike Barn, heard some people had problems getting some stuff through them a while back. I was looking at picking up some parts through them but not too sure unless I can't find any other places that are as cheap and have the stuff I need.

Also, what red did you use for the frame? Loving that tone of red on the frame.

Well i got the forks apart and this is what I found. The one one the left is from the 78F forks and the right is the 73K forks.

There is a little bit of a difference in the guts.

I used 78 internals with a 73 lower and everything went together fine.

yes there were some minor differences in the internals, but it all fit together nice.
