OK guys, I just finished up my '78K and am on to the next project.  Now, I luckily skipped an engine rebuild on the K, but not so lucky on this one!

Decided to start with what I know the least about and if I get in too far over my head, I won't have wasted time on the other things.  A few pics to start with where I got this weekend.  With the help of a couple of my neighbors, got the engine pulled in about 30 minutes and after a couple of hours off and on today, got the head off!  I'm sure glad I never started this engine, as one of the cylinders had what I can only describe as sand in it.  

My favorite find of the evening was a mud wasp nest in the head (a big one, too).  So, the only question of the day is what are everyone's opinions on boring the engine to, what is it.....an 830 something?  Is it worth it, or just hone the cylinders and rebuild with new stock stuff?

Doing an overbore depends on how you want to use the bike.

Most people just want something to ride and are happy with the result of a stock restored engine.

Others like to modify a few things and add a different cam and such.

While others still go out and bore and add cams and studs and all kinds of neat stuff.

The 836 kit is relatively easy to handle if you research it and have a little bit of mechanical skill. Or all you need is a driver's license and some $$ and someone can do it for you.  ;D

Either way it is up to you. Just make sure it runs like hell.
