Topic: drop voltage in the headlight bucket (black wire)

Whats up, ive been trying to get my bike started and i got it started by bypassing a power wire straight to the coil. I was prob'ing around with my voltage meter and it seems im getting a voltage drop. My battery reads 11 volts. The voltage reg (black wire) reads 11 volts. and the main fuse reads 11 volts. But when I go to the headlight bucket and read the black wire it reads only 2 volts. Any ideas??

Clean ALL of you electrical connections with a contact cleaner.  They tend to develop corrosion in them if your bike is old, which it is.  I use WD-40 and I hose the bullet splices after I take them apart.  I then put the connectors together and back apart again a few times to clean them.  This usually works.  Your 2 volts is a sign of resistance caused by corrosion.  Try that out and see what you find.

I'm guessing from the picture of your bike that you changed-out the handlebars...its possible the wires to the kill-switch ( black and black/white ) are pinched and the black shorted to ground. Did you try disconnecting ( not by-passing ) the kill switch by disconnecting the black wire to it ? whats the voltage now ?...also disconnect the several black wires one-by-one from the harness black in the headlight bucket and check voltage each time.....
