cb550 engine assembly, Need the best stuff!
« on: June 15, 2009, 03:12:53 PM »
I'm about ready to start assembling my engine which is completely striped now with case split and the primary and crank out. I am going to put together a parts bath and clean the case, crank, rods , and trans, then coat with some oil, the rest went to be jet washed.

I want to use a water based cleaner so I don't have chemicals. around. Any advise? I was thinking of using Por15 marine clean.

And what about moly for assembly. Is there a specail assembly grease for wet clutch engines so as not to contaminate the clutch.

Finally, what is the best gasket maker to use for the case halves.  thanks

Locktight on the bigend nuts if you have those off. Make sure all oilways are meticulously clean and whatever jointing you use dont get in there
