Another Gas Leak Question (sorry)
« on: June 24, 2009, 06:08:01 AM »
I know this has been discussed at length in the other threads, so sorry if it is too much of a repeat Q.

I have the leak out of the drain tube from carb2. It leaks in a pattern - nothing, nothing, nothing, then a whole stream of gas comes out and then nothing again. I am pretty certain it is the bowl filling up and then draining. Am I right?

I though it was a stuck float but i took the carbs off and it seems that it moves freely and move in the same way as the non-leaking carb right next to it.

I am a novice to this type of carb, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Guys!

maybe float gets stuck then snaps closed?  Check for smooth float action.  If its binding adjustments could be nessesary

I don't know which bike you have, but some have reported that (I think) the 500/550s floats can rub the bowl and get stuck.  Anyway, it might be worth checking to make sure that you have enough clearance between the bowl and the float.
