In the middle of riding season too!(ok it is for us northern hemisphere people)

I'll bump just to see what spikey says.

dude i'm so close it hurts, at this point it's just money holding me back.

$300 for a full valve job (including new valves)

$50 for frame and swing arm powder coated. These are the only two items I don't want to mess with myself so I am having them done pro.

$150 to get the inside of the tank coated

$250 for a pro paint job

Another $150 for new tires

then I'm done. *cry* I doubt it'll happen this summer unless I can get some more customers.

That's the plan man. Lot's of cafe/rat bike and hot/rat rod shows out here in the Minnesota. I think I could win something.

Wait till I make one huge update on my build thread and you see the list of crap I have done. It's stupid really.

$250 for a Pro paint job?  That sounds cheap.  Would you be speaking of Rustoleum Professional?

My boss used to work directly under the guy who owns all the Abra auto bodies here and he is going to get me a deal on the paint job.

Agreed. I also got my tattoo artist to agree to pin striping it for putting in a new starter in her pickup and fixing her scooter.

$150 is too much? That prices includes cleaning the inside and coating it.

I think I am confused on what you are trying to relay friend.

My whole point was, in the days of many folks having to work at getting a tank in runnable condition..

That a unused or minty inside tank had to be worth a bit more than a tank that has been run.. I was thinking..

I am not slamming you or running you down, just pointing out that an unused tank should have a bit of value... and go for a long time before needing inner work..

.. back to the regular programming.. ;D

Why not POR-15 it for $40?

It's what I did on my XS, worked like a charm and was easy as pie.  Even fixed the seepage issue I was having with a pinhole.

2.) I like being broke

3.) These fellas have got a good word of mouth network

4.) I have a tendancy to screw up easy things like this

5.) I'm lazy

I get ya now, well it doesn't have a ton of rust inside, or at least last time I saw it it didn't, but I just want to stop it before it starts.

Okay I lied, I just googled that and it seems like a great alternative... do you have a thread on how to do it or anything?

Don't assume the Caaveman knows what it's doing.

Yup, that's the stuff.  The instructions are pretty simple, too.

http://n0nb.us/kawasaki/repairs/por15intro.html

Oh, and stay away from KREEM coating (their competitor).  KREEM has a tendency to peel and clog your fuel lines.  POR-15 actually sells a product for people who screwed up their KREEM coating to remove it and apply a POR-15 coating.
