Hello everyone. I for some unknown reason like restoring old bikes. My current ride a 77 wing started life as a salvage project from a bike salvage yard and now runs very well and is a stock naked bike.
Current project. I picked up a 78 cb750 F with about ( 16000 miles ) that had been sitting since 1989, mostly outside. It's supposed to run and I was able to check that all cylinders had compression so I'll except that. I paid a total of $400.00 for it and it had the customary Vetter IV fairing ( popular during that period & a fancy backrest/rack. May use some of those parts on the wing.) It has the usual problems assocaited with neglect but the bike has the orginal owners manual and shows that for about 3/4 of those miles routine maintenance was done.
The only question I have to ask myself is which way I want to go with this bike. I'm leaning towards a cross between a cafe racer & old style racing bike ( possibly with a racing type fairing ). Who knows!! I changed the oil, installed a new battery and have carbs off and look good ( slides are mint ) with the usual crud that cleans up easily. These carbs are much simpler than the wings. Want to get it too run to prove its OK than I'll proceed further.
I look forward to picking some brains & contributing where I can.
