Hail Hail Rock and Roll!
« on: June 10, 2009, 03:15:55 AM »
i did a search before posting this to be sure nobody else has mentioned this great film. Hail Hail Rock and Roll is a documentary about chuck berry and the the concert put on to celebrate his 60th birthday  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hail!_Hail!_Rock_%27n%27_Roll  Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray are among the many many stars that were in this film and performed in the concert. during an interview with Keith Richards i had a good hearty laugh when he was talkin about how hard Chuck Berry was to work with "if i can handle Mick Jagger, i can take anything" anyways, Chuck Berry fans or not, this is a movie worth seeing!
this video really shows that Keith Richards wasnt kidding.

Filmed at the Fox Theater in good ol' St. Lou- great movie about one of rock 'n rolls greatest.

Berry still performs at Blueberry Hill in the Loop once a month.

saw chuck years ago in a local outdoor show; it rained like the dickens and the crowd got soaked, but it was so worth it. chuck put on a great show.

many years ago (70's?) my best friend's dad met him in the restaurant of some hotel and got his autograph on a $100 bill. CB asked for the favor of returning his room key. my bud's dad agreed but kept the key. turned out chuck was ditching out and apparently this directly preceded one of his well publicized arrests. that's what i was told anyway.

saw an appearance on the tonight show (w/ johnny) and carson put a hold on all the other guests, so it was all chuck berry. very cool.

Chuck probably wouldn't have been so difficult to deal with if Richards had been able to hold up his end of the log.  The looks that Johnnie Johnson was giving says it all.
