neutral light stays on

im looking into a 79 750 that the neutral light stays on is this a sign of any other problems?
the bike has had some other work done to it like frame painted and new tank paint ... seems like it might be a deal if thats not a problem..hes only asking 1k

A short circuit to ground anywhere in the neutral light wiring can cause the light to stay on. Disconnect the wire from the switch ( on the bottom of the engine). If the light goes out, then the switch is bad.

Should be an easy fix.  Definitly not a deal breaker if you like the looks and operation of the machine.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?

i assume the transmission is actually shifting, correct?
