1983 Goldwing Aspencade
« on: June 13, 2009, 05:17:50 PM »
If I strip this down can it look not so much like a cruiser? 350$ seems like a good deal even if it isn't running.
Anyone have any pics of a naked Goldwing around this year?

I'm rebuilding my 1980 GL1100 Interstate.  Better wing for going naked is either pre-1980 or 1980 to 1983 Standard.

PS:
How come it's not running?  what problems is it having?  Stators can be iffy on them, and you have to pull the engine to replace the stator.

So are the rear ends if not properly taken care of. Nothing serious just a lot of noise.

Along with the shift forks and clutch.

So best bet if you are going to take the engine out and aren't 100% on the condition of anything.... Better do it then as opposed to busting your butt on it later.

You can strip down an aspencade but you'll need to do a lot of frame modification in the rear to get it clean.

Cut some here smooth there and fill here.

It can be done.. and should look pretty sweet.

This is a picture of my Naked 75 GL1000 that I have been restoring for the last year. I have been trying for a completely stock out of the showroom look. Still got a lot of work to do. The 80 - 83 GL1100 also came in a standard (Naked) model.

I'd shoot for one of these if I ever got my hands on a wing.

What else you need other than proper seat?

Paul,

Yes I am on NakedGoldWings and Steve Saunders, Peterbylt on both.

I bought a 76 parts bike just to get the Rear Grab bar and the OEM Muffler. I also just got an OEM seat that needs to be recovered. What I am looking for right now is a front fender, although you can't see it in the picture the chrome has been polished right off of it. I either need to buy a good used one or have that one re-chromed. Another alternative is a local company says they have a powder coat that you can't tell from chrome and is easier to maintain.
