what engine do I have?
« on: June 18, 2009, 04:26:48 PM »
So after thinking for a few months now that my engine is a k8, because my frame is from 1978, I now think it's from an earlier model, after looking for new pistons rings and other engine parts. The engine number is CB750E-2516563, which as far as can tell, doesn't correspond to any model year. Maybe someone else knows?

Does it use a clip on the front sprocket?
Does it have spigots for the pipes, instead of studs?

If you click on the "website" tab at the top of this page you can then navigate to the 750 model guides. First one's free  ;)

You could have a mixed combo of top and bottom end, makes it harder to nail it down...

True. The '76 F pistons have a slight dome on the top, if it helps.

looks like its an F1. How hard is it to find parts for this model, and what problems did/does this model have? I'm burning some oil right now and I was going to go through the valves and replace the rings, but now I'm not sure, and I might just look for a K engine, k3-5.

Engine number suggests 76 cb750F but that might well be only the cases and all the internals different
