ko-K1 oem seat vs. K2-K6 oem seat what's the difference?
« on: June 19, 2009, 05:39:09 AM »
I'm looking at buying a new oem seat for my K3. I noticed the K2-K6 has an owner's manual pocket on the bottom side. The K0-K1 seat looks narrower in the picture than the newer model seat. So what is the difference between the two seats?

From what I understand, the K1 seat will not fit the K2-K6 as the hinge placement is different.

I made a K3 seat fit my K1, but had to remove the latch and relocate the hinges.

The K0 seat has a distinct block pattern stamped into the vinyl cover, slightly less padding from the somewhat loose-fitting strap forward, and has the 'duck-tail' at the rear.  The K1 seat is known as a flat seat but continued the 3-part trim strip as the K0. It has an elongated pattern and has no duck-tail.

The K2 - K6 seats are all the flat type and have various but somewhat similar stamped patterns. The latch and hinges were changed from the originals, and the owner's manual pocket was added. The trim strip is a single part.

The original K0 seats have a pinkish-red foam pad.  All other seats have yellow/white closed-cell foam pads.  Other differences can be noted between the models for how the covers were fastened to the pans.

I had a K1 set on my K2 with no fitment issues...currently have a spare K1 seat that also fits the K2 and K4. I dont know if the seat hinges have been moved on the current one but the last one I had was stock...the K2 seat is the fattest one I believe...and most comfy...I have one...very good seat...you can tell by the stitch pattern on top...different compared to the K4-K6 seat.

K0 seat - ducktail
K1 seat -not ductail...small square raised pattern on top...thinnish
K2 seat - large squares on top -thick...wide....comfy!
K3 -?
K4 -K6 -flat, thin...boring  ;)

cheers
Andy
