k8 piston question

Can someone tell me why piston rings from the earlier models, k0-k6 won't fit on my K8?
1983 Kawasaki GPZ 750
1978 Honda CB750K w/ 1976 CB750F1 motor
1979 Suzuki GS550L

Check your part numbers.........visually the K7 & K8 pistons are slightly taller and have a higher compression.
