full metal jacket
« on: August 08, 2009, 04:49:52 AM »
i watched it for the first time in a long time this morning and i had forgotten that R Lee Ermey was in it, Vincent D'Nofrio, from law and order criminal intent played Leonard (gomer pyle) Lawrence. what a bizarre total opposite types of characters he played. great movie, one of my all time favourite sayings was said in this movie too "i'm gonna rip your head off and #$%* down your neck"!

That movie is way up there on my list of favorite movies.  There are several Stanley Kubrick movies on that list.

Re-watched this myself recently then promptly ran off and set the DVR to record Mail Call and Lock and Load.  Forgot how much I enjoy watching the Gunny.

Holy cow!  Try clicking on a bunch of them at once - you get to hear an army of Ermey.

Seriously, try some rapid clicking.

i think i remember hearing someplace that Stanley Kubrick refused to leave England and that full metal jacket was filmed totally in England. true or not, those more knowledgeable?

You are correct, it was all filmed in England.  Not sure on the reasoning, though, if it was because Kubrick refused to leave England, or just preferred to film there.
