Well, the wheel is on hold for the moment. The spoke wrench I had ended up rounding off almost every spoke nipple, so now I need to order a new set of spokes or nipples. So, to keep making progress, I'm gonna stop by HF tonight to pick up a couple things and try soda blasting my carbs over the long weekend. Don't worry, there will be pics  ;D

What size were the nipples?

I have specific size wrenches available for just that reason. Used to use the "Rowe Style" wrench as an emergency trail tool.

They were the ones that came with the SS spokes from PartsNMore

It was the set for the front. I'll try and take some measurements when I get home. The wrench I was using was one from PNM also, had 6 different sizes on it.

Right....

That's a Rowe stlye wrench. Great for emergency use on all kinds of bikes. But if you are only doing one...  ;)

Well tell me what size you were using on the multi wrench and I'll see what I have.

Has learned so far that..."complete" gaskets are never complete no matter where you get them, VHT Silver Case Paint is just as durable as painting your motor with chalk and cheap tire irons used with rim protectors are useless on 30 year old tires.

Most of my pics are from ma phone which is a no in the coolness factor.
great build capn, let me know if you need help and don't be bashful. It'll give me a reason to tell the wife I got somtin' to do other than house or garden work or work work... ;D

I don't think the problem is so much the camera as it is the photographer :P.  I've been taking the pictures in my garage, which has terrible lighting. Also, my camera always falls out of focus when I try and take a picture without using the flash.

As long as the tube and tire are off, you can use a flat screwdriver on the end of the nipple.

K, so I know I haven't updated lately. Finally got down this weekend to pick up more of my parts, including my motor  ;D. So, while sitting in the garage last night after working on my truck I decided to play with my shocks a bit: (crappy phone pic warning)

Ecosse:

I have a soft spot for that shade of green (time in the military will do that to ya  :P)


I'm going to use the same color to accent some other sopts on the bike as well, just haven't decided what yet.

Been doin some small things to various pieces (stripping paint, etc). Then, while wondering what to work on next, I got hit with more inspiration. So I started with this:

When taking close-up pictures, use the Macro function - it will focus on close objects and suddenly everything will look much better.

So how many time did it take for you to get the spokes right on the wheels? I have an extra front 19in and rear 16 in and wanted to restore them for the next project, I read MR Breeze's thread on when he did his and now yours.

To be honest...

I have had luck placing them in a solvent tank for a day or two.

Then after they look like frickin new polish the heck out of em. That might get you the look you are after.

For an example check out my barn burner thread... those carbs were nasty!

Anyone ever try the Razor Buffs they sell at places like Caswells? They look super-thin, might be able to get in some of the real narrow places.
