Tool kits?
« on: June 18, 2009, 11:04:25 PM »
My bike doesn't have a tool it. I'm a new guy. Is this even a problem? And if so where do I get one?

Tool kits are a good thing on old bikes. Not likely you can get a complete kit as 1 item. I recently purchased all the pieces seperately for my 750. Got all the pieces except the axle not wrench including a bag from Honda. Found the axle nut wrench (discontinued by Honda) at David Silver Spares.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

You can find a lot of those kits on eBay.  Putting one together is a good idea in case you need it on the road.

The Honda tools weren't wonderful quality.  Best to have tools in case of breakdown

Hey Razor I've got that same helmet in your avatar.  Not bad even in the rain but noisy.

The spark plug wrench is irreplaceable for me. Besides that, I have a real tool kit to take on the road with me.

Yeah that is an old helmet.  I have a scorpion EXO 400 now.  Much quieter then the ol' HJC...I took the visor off the HJC and am using it for drag racing my cage.

the nice thing about the honda tools is the small size. They fit in the very meager space given. now a person could take out the tool tray and fab a slightly deeper one maybe. I thought about doing this but have not checked the amount of space yet. Besides that, carrying a tool kit is a bit unwieldy as what do you do with it once at your destination? I mean you already have to carry in your gear and helmet and whatever else you need but then to add more to that? Longer trips are different, I am talking to work or a night on the town or something.

I had a flat 2 weeks ago. I have the Honda toolkit that was original with the bike. It had everything I needed to pull the rear wheel. Very cleverly made.

tool kits are good to have.   I have a puch I wear around me when I ride my dirtbike that has a few tool I will need incase I need to change the spark plug or tune the carb. Usualy come in handy when I crash to fix levers and such.

you must trail ride... If I tried to fix a busted lever in the middle of an MX track I would be run over... many many times  :o

Yea I ride trails and hill climb but yea don't really like the track much would rather go balls out up a hill or in the trails.   we usually play catch up in the trails with my buddies.

I've kept a tool bag on all my bikes since .................Welll,a long time  :D.The factory kit is okay, but when doing a lot of serious traveling,it comes up a little short sometimes with not much room for "extras",like bulbs, fuses, wire (electrical and bailing) wire ties, tape, etc. There's ALL kinds of leather tool bags available out there that will strap onto your bike in numerous locations. And it can stay on the bike without having to take it in with you............................. 8)
