The Argentinian has a girlfriend (PICS)

Picked this baby up two days ago 2006 SV-650 with 2000 miles - newest bike I've ever owned:

Nice bike...I like that mini fairing better than the ones I am used to seeing on the SV

How do you like it so far?

I've got about 200 miles on it so far and really like it:

Power is good, steering is (really) quick.  Pretty comfortable except that the tank design prevents me from gripping with my thighs - I may put some grip tape on there eventually if I don't get used to it.  Also, it was pretty inexpensive after shopping around a while.

This machine was bought so I could take some of the mileage accumulation off the CB and also so my wife can ride - it's much lighter than the CB.

They do have a pretty loyal following! There are also a few SV racing leagues up north here.

They seem like a really good combination of sport bike (not quite as much power) mixed with longer riding comfort (lucky if I can get 2 hours in on my CBR before my back starts screaming at me!).

I have toyed with the idea of  looking for 1 if I sell the CBR. Seem like a really good overall value since the resale isn't crazy over priced.

I'd take an SV over a cbr any day.  Their riding position is much more comfortable.

They're a great bike, and very popular here too. If you get a chance, take the SV1000 for a ride, they finally sorted out the problems that overshadowed the first of the breed, the TL1000 (with the dodgy seperate rotary damper and spring assembly, like that was ever gonna work!) which (with that beautiful engine..........) should have been a Ducati killer when first released. I want one! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Nice ride... my track day buddy rides his wife's SV and leaves his Aprilia at home.   :)

I wouldn't say gripping the tank w/ your legs is a good thing... you need to be one with the bike, but need to stay separate from it, as well.

btw, terry... i'd take any year TL1000, any day!

what is it?
Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

I have seen a "grip sticker" that does exactly what you want.  They make it in clear so it is almost invisible.  Check you local bike accessories shop or ebay and you will find them.   They work great if you hang off a lot.
