What a load of *&^%$£"
« on: November 11, 2005, 03:54:20 PM »
After waiting 18 weeks for our cylinder head to be reworked and fitted with the ultimate in race valves, we get a phone call saying the valves can't be had until next February.  :'( :'( :'(

What a total fcuk up  >:( >:( >:(

I only found this out tonight when Chris phoned me at work with the bad news.

On top of this the tuning shop wants to know if we will wait or can we find our own valves :o :o :o

I don't like slagging people off, but if this guy don't get his finger out the story will be all over the WWW.

Sam, are you looking for oversize or stock size valves. I can probably get Kibblewhites in either size in about a week. That's bull#$%*. >:(

Just knew you'd come to my rescue ;D

Stock length and stem diameter on both, but 2mm larger head on inlet valve.

Must be one piece stainless (but I guess you knew that) ;D

Let me double check on the stem diameter as the new guides have I think already been fitted.

If you can just get me a ball park figure we can tidy the bits up later, thanks.

Sam...I can only get the intake 1.5mm larger(33.5). If the valve job hasn't been done(which would be impossible without the valves ) we may be in business. You could go .5mm larger on the exhaust with the 33.5 intake. Same price.

Don't worry about the diameter- those guides should have to be honed for a true fit.

I will be in bed tomorow daytime as I am on nights, so I have asked Chris to phone him tomorow to find out what he has done.

The seats may already be opened up to take the 2mm bigger inlet valves (I am not sure on this) as he has told Chris that the only thing that was holding him up was the people that make the valves.

I certainly wish I had known more about you before we had started :( :( :(

Well, if the throats have been bored for an extra 2mm the 33.5 will probably be OK...call them first.  It is only a .010" difference on the inner diameter of the seat. Unfortunately Sam the 5mm stem conversion kit comes with the 34mm intake but of course requires the appropriate guides. In hindsight that would have been the berries!! Keep me informed and I'm working on that carb and got some positive info today.

I feel for you Sam. There's nothing worse than people not followng through...especially when you're old enough to remember when that was the status quo. Sounds like Mike has you covered though. Maybe in the long run you're better off. ;)

Mick,

You would not believe the number of times we have been let down by other people.

The frame mods to take all the CR parts took months longer than was promised and left us just 2 weeks to build the bike and sort it before it's first outing.

The exhaust (4into4) came in kit form, they may as well have sent us some tubes and a sheet of steel and told us to do it ourselves.

Lots of things on the bike had to be modified after paying people good hard earned money to make, and now it has all started again with the new motor ???

The only good thing to come out of this project was finding this forum and meeting you guys, it's just a pity I did'nt find you sooner.

I'm sorry too Sam. I could have shipped you a race ready head (like Terry) and you'd have in 2 months. And that includes everything, the head, porting, guides, Serdi valve job, valves...the works. Import wouldn't be bad as it is a 30 year old piece. ;) If you get really stuck but there is alot of time left. It will get done one way or another!
