My Chicago trip-Mods Vs. Rockers!
« on: June 21, 2009, 09:45:06 PM »
A little over a week ago, I had joked about going to Chicago to visit some friends, some family, and see some sick motorcycles.
A week ago, mkramer1121 sent me a message stating that i should come.
After giving quite possibly every excuse to not get off my lazy ass....I began making arrangements to have my animals babysat, taking off work and talking the boyfriend into coming, or not freaking out if I went and hung out with 2 or more dudes, that I know only, via SOHC.
Needless to say... I GOT MY WAY!
HAHAHAHAH!!!!
So, mkramer and spikey bike graciously offered a place to stay and even an extra bike to ride!
Friday morning, day before mvr, i woke up at 5 am and threw the boyfriend and the dog in the car.
The boyfriend was sick, and the dog was antsy, mother nature #$%*ing hates me, but after 12 hours, 2 energy drinks, alot of pee breaks, pepto, antacids and a freaking monsoon, we made it.
Naturally I couldn't go straight to bed cause of "nerves"  ::)
So we had 2 or 14 beers some talking, some singin, some horsin around the spikey bike, around 230 am I finally got to sleep. Goodnight spikey bike!

I wouldn't complain about my sleeping situation, because I did indeed have a dry (mostly, thanks stanley) inside place to sleep.  ;D If my dog wasn't such a dufus. I might've slept more than 2 hours.

Naturally I was unhappy about not having my own bike, but I had the next best thing......welll sorta!
mkramer was super nice and allowed me to borrow his versys, only, the boyfriend came with and I was too short to reach the ground enough to safely operate it so.... I had to ride on back >:(
But that was ok! and you'll see why. All the stuff we miss while we're riding is really pretty amazing!
First we had to return some video tapes....I'll shutup for a while....

The mosquitos there are huge......nah. hahaThere was almost a dozen helicopters leaving the naval base.....

It's hard to take pictures straight up.....
It was beautiful out, although it was bloody hot!

And then we found the traffic! yaaay, I sure missed it!

Mike's purdy little bike giving him some "trouble" Yea right... He just wanted to ride the shoulder....

Spikey, showing off his abs.

I love this picture

Just signs.. Oh! if you look close under the rubberband on my arm you can see my header pipe burn is almost healed!
ahhh the skyline!

To be continued....

Then we got a straggler
I asked him what year his indian was, 1947. Fantastic looking bike.
I couldn't hear him, but i think he said, "1 Owner too"
He took the win for best vintage american.

The old boy could ride too. Stuck with us in all our manuevering.

Ok! We finally got there!
and it was beatimus.

WOW!!!  Mike's bike looks a lot like my buddy's bike.  I remember commenting to him that the color scheme was the same.

The red seems to be going around.  I may powder coat mine this winter. Not red, but the bikes do look good with the painted frames.

mine WAS red and smoke gray, but w/ the leaky fiberglass tank, and the fish eyed paint job, we opted to go w/ a quick gloss black paint job...

There was some guy standing over my bike saying "look dude, he copied your #$%*!" how could I copy it when I never saw his bike?

Nope, I was the short fat guy with the red Honda shirt walking with them.  Don't take the statement personal or serious as it was said in passing.  Besides, I bet Carpy did it before both of you and someone did it before him, etc...   ;)

Are you two coming to Rockerbox?

We're only messing. I personally don't think they look alike other than the red frames.
Something like 15 dudes went by and said nasty stuff about spikey bike while we were all sitting there, doesn't change the fact that there's 800 pictures of it roaming around now.
I wish I had MY bike there.  >:(

I also don't see his GL1000 front end on his bike... :D

We discussed it briefly, I have to fix my carbs and put in cooler plugs first, then we'll discuss it more...

While all you were out riding, drinking and having fun, I was in a garage in Berwyn sorting out wiring and fuse issues.  You had to be there, really....
