Yay, good news!
« on: June 22, 2009, 01:55:36 PM »
So, ever since I woke up from my coma, they were telling me up in the hospital that my license was suspended due to 'head trauma'. So of course I assumed that was so. Called around a bit to see what a neurologist would charge me to get the 'ok' to get my license back, and it was a pretty serious amount of money (in the thousands).
So I called the DMV to ask them what else I could do. Nice DMV lady asked my name and license number, and she said that my license wasn't suspended, and everything is hunkey dorey, at least in the state of Oregon....
Yay!
No.

Why would the hospital tell you that? Were they kidding?
They have some top secret connection with the dmv?

I smell tinfoil conspiracy!  :o

No, legally, when you suffer head trauma, they take away your license until a 'trained professional' says you are OK to drive again. Looks like Washington State forgot to send that paperwork on down to Oregon.

They did the same thing to my FIL when he had open heart surgery. A social worker tried to get his license pulled because he refused to answer her questions.

He told us he wanted to tell her to go F**k herself.

Probably just hasn't made it there yet.

Happened back last August. Oregon DID receive the notice from them that I had a ticket from the same incident, and were going to suspend my license, but the ticket was paid.

That IS great news Mark! But, what I think is even better is the fact that, after what you've  been through, you are in as good of a shape that you are. 8) When I heard about the accident and the condition that you were in, I was really worried about your recovery.
Congratulations for being able to come back! ;)

Oh man! That could not be better news! I bet you had a massive weight off your chest when they told you that! Wow!
To bad you had to spend so much time thinkin' about it though. I can't imagine what it would be like to think that I may never ride again...

With the amount of people on this site from Pregon (and Portland especially) that could be a hell of a bill!

Out of curiosity any of the mods or whover know which state has the most members? Seems like Oregon would take the cake...

Dennis

Oh yeah Mlinder...glad to hear about the license issue. When they take it away up here it is a huge pain in the ass to get it back.
