Honda Did a KO Boo-Boo?

I was just looking through my original OEM KO owners manual that comes with the bike. Dated 1969 on the back cover. I just happened to notice the lower tank trim on the KO bike pictured has the K1 trim. I wonder if they ran out of the trim without the stripe. My horn is on the other side compared to this bike and those carbs look a bit different too. Maybe this was just a photo bike??? Just an observation...

I read an article, if I can find it I'll post it, but anyway, it said there were differences from prototype to show bike to actual production bike. So I would guess that the pic is one of the early , pre-production bikes.

That seat strap, the headlight ears, the sidecover emblem, and the mirror are all different from the production bikes. The left side horn was changed to the right side during 1970 production. Take a look at the Sandcast Only / K0 club site for more info..........The first few hundred bikes were shipped in many parts to American Honda for their assembly.

That clutch cover looks... bizarre, and the points cover.

Horn location is correcr for PART of 69.
but Note..
Mastercylinder & steel line from MC
upward tilt of tank & overall height
sharp radius on pipes and how close to the frame..
Skinny sidecover & no evidence of oil tank
Dual throttle cables
And look like CR type carbs...
Prototype..

Look at your partsbook top of parts listings.. bike should be called CB 750, not KO till late 69 or 70..
