We had a discussion going on these on another thread, I'm starting anew here.

So I got an email back from Buzz at DynoMan, he sez to check back in a week for a status report. Also he asks: "Also Please let us know how many sets you will be needing."

I replied 3, thinking me, Voxonda, and "754" in Brit Columbia. Are these firm orders? Ready to pay when available?

Anybody else? The more the merrier I'm sure. I'll buy 2 looking ahead, if it helps.

APE called yesterday to inform me they are shipping my 900 cylinders back. I had the impression they were making the studs for Buzz. I asked when they were sending Buzz more lower end studs and he seemed unaware of this possibility. Maybe not. Sounds like Jay needs to get in on this action directly.

I've had personal discussion with B Jay and Brent at Dynoman on this issue. Brent designed them, APE makes them per order from DynoMan and honors a pact they made not to sell them them but to let Brent at DynoMan sell them. As of about 10 days ago, Jay said they did not have an order pending from DynoMan.

I ramped up the rhetoric with Buzz at DynoMan indicating we NEED these and to please order them. I think we are close. But no order yet. The sales people at APE may not be the first in line to know the news on these things.

DynoMan only works by eMail, no phone. If everyone interested would go to the site and shoot them an email, they'll know they are not just getting led on by a kook (me) and there is serious interest.  Here's the links: info@dynoman.net is the email address. What gets me is don't APE and DynoMan build motors and would need to have these around all the time?  A few sets anyway?

No, nuts are listed at $24 per 16. 10 needed. They appear to be OEM Head Nuts which I believe are tough enough to begin with. I'll double check. Also I'll check OEM.

OEM nuts are $1 a piece, the washers are $1,61. From motogrid.com. Waiting on reply from DynoMan about their nuts, OEM or something special.

Cool.  I've actually got two sets of HD cylinder head nuts from TAS Motorsports.  I can use those for the bottom end and maybe pick up another set for the cylinders.  I just want the bottom end to be ready for 25 psi or better.  Not sure I'll get that ballsy, but I want it done once and done right.

I sent Buzz an eMail indicating I'm in for a set.  Any chance of seeing 'em in the next 3-4 weeks?  I'd really like to button up this engine.

 he gets 20 sets at say 50.00 = 1000.00

 then if he sells only 5 sets in say a year, then he gets back 400.00.. so he is out 600 for "helping us"..

 But if he has say 8 FIRM orders, and expect to sell at least 3 or more in the next year, then  its time to get them done..

 I am pretty sure it is something along those lines...

 Pretty sure the nuts are CroMo, not same as stock nuts..

I don't know.  They aren't any heavier than stock on the outside.  It's supposedly the way the threads are cut (tighter tolerance, more meat left).  They're new atleast, and not all buggered up from years of poor mechanics.  They aren't listed on their website, but they post on the HondaChopper board which is where I got 'em.

I know the math on a lot of this stuff makes it seem like why bother?

Gotta sell a lot of stuff for a $30 profit, to cover the time and effort.

Still that's what business is all about. Can't make any money on each one but make it on the volume.      

All the studs he could sell in a year probably won't keep the lights on for a couple of weeks.

I got a reply from Buzz.  He says to get on the backorder list just use the shopping cart at the site, pay for them, and they'll be shipped when they get them in.  He also said 8-10 weeks, which is a bit of a shame because I was really hoping to have the engine together before then.  Ah, well, there you have it anyway.

"Hi Ron,

The studs are 8 to 10 weeks away. They will come with nuts and will be $79.95 a set. Sorry it takes so long, but there are many steps in making them and they all take time. If you would like to get on the backorder list the shopping cart button on our SOHC section is now working, so you can order as many as you need and they will be shipped to you the same day we receive them. We should have plenty, but if you are on the backorder list you will get them for sure."

I'm hoping the 8 to 10 weeks is a CYA projection. But in reality at my pace that may be about right. I've got plenty I can do. Front end, wiring, brakes,  A motor can come together pretty quick if everything else is ready. So I'm ordering 1 set on the backorder list, now. One later if I feel the need.

Same form-type reply. I don't think there will be an issue with Buzz continuing to sell these. If you sell out you have to reorder and they have to be specially made.

Pay up front to be guaranteed delivery. Otherwise, wait till they are available and first come first serve.

I bought one set for sure. I'll take my chances on the second set, I won't need till next year anyway.
