Drive chain conversion.
« on: June 24, 2009, 06:53:11 am »
I am thinking of converting to a 530 chain on my 78 F3 I am now running a 630 88 link o-ring with 15 front and 43 rear I changed the front to 15 I do a lot of highway riding. I went to the Z1 site and they had a formula for converting the sprockets I came up with 18-52. They didn't say the number of links on the chain tho and there was a question about spacers behind the front sprocket. Anyone have any info on this? Is there a down side to converting to 530?

Thanks in advance

http://www.z1enterprises.com/reference/chain630to530.aspx

on the same link, it gives the chain pitch and also states that

"630 chain is 3/4" pitch (or think of it as 6/8"), 530 chain is 5/8" pitch - so the simple conversion in teeth is divide the 630 sprocket teeth count by 5 and multiply by 6."

The same formula would apply to chains to get links needed
