Overhauling CB350F Carbs with Mixed Slide Numbers
« on: January 30, 2010, 08:02:01 PM »
Hello:

In doing up my quartet of carbs from a 1972 CB350F, I've discovered a mix of slide numbers.  These numbers are on the underside of the slide, where the jet needle sticks out.  All slides show the number 2.5, which I believe to be cutaway.  Carbs on cylinders 1 and 3 also have the number 106, while carbs 2 and 4 have number 105.  What does this mix of numbers mean?  Should they all be 105 or all 106?  Thanks.

As a related question: What do the numbers on the choke butterfly valve mean?  I found different numbers ("1" and "2" I believe it was) stamped on mine - but not in any meaningful position.  Then another set had them located elsewhere.

Bill:

You are perfectly correct that the CB350F's slided are "handed" with respect to the guide pin slot.  And the numbers 105 and 106 correspond with this handedness.  I apreciate your sharing of knowledge and experience.  Naturally, I missed this last night when exercising my micrometer all over these slide to see if they were sized to their bores.  With respect...........Don
