They've been making those for a while, 754. They were making them for the cb350 twin racebikes until recently, when the teflon slipper tensioners seemed to do a better job with a far simpler setup and design.
No.

You can adjustment best breadth cam alternation just like the drive alternation and use the appropriate apparatus to accident the pin over. I had my acquaintance do it for me on a 1132cc kawasaki i congenital years ago. I didn't wish to breach the cases, just did the top end.

So uh, as I was saying...

I moved to Seattle in October. This is my new shop space. On the bench is the K3 I'm going to use for the bottom end. I hope to get the cases split tomorrow.

Finally getting the Cobra's head ready to ship off to Mike (probably Monday) for a once over. These are mostly for documentation sake.

Valve cover studs before removal.

Studs removed.

Removable bits.

No RC45's made it to Oz but I can buy pistons for $55 a pop, that's about $1 American and believe me their good gear.
As for time and money, well I can always scrounge the time but she who must be obeyed is pretty tight with the purse strings when it comes to my "toys" as she calls them.
Bottom line is, we're running two of these motors now.
The 1140 is a beautiful thing and has given us two seasons of trouble free racing.
The 1260 has been a bit of a problem child. Keeps popping head gaskets. But we're working on it.

Cheers,
Brian

G'Day Brian, whereabouts are you located mate? I love the idea of using the RC45 pistons. (BTW, plenty of RC45's made it to Oz, I rode one that Ken Wootton was testing for AMCN many years ago, then a mate of a mate bought one, very nice, but I thought the RC30 was nicer, and surprisingly the Honda dealers here were having problems selling RC45's)

The other mods you describe are well documented, and Rex Wolfendon, Oz's premier CB750 race bike builder/racer uses them extensively, but like you say, most of the guys here would rather buy "off the shelf" parts that are guaranteed to work, rather than experiment, which is fair enough if you've got the money to spend on stuff like this.

I once stated that putting $1000.00 shockers on a CB750 is like putting a fur coat on a 10 dollar hooker, but I know first hand that buying big dollar after market stuff is addictive, and that's why it's nice to see you carrying on with the "pioneering spirit" and experimenting in real world racing conditions, and not just lining up for another cup of Kool Aid, with your cheque book in hand, ha ha!

Having said that, I'm still waiting for Mike Rieck to reply to a PM I sent him months ago asking him about the availability of one of his billet big blocks, and now I find out he's giving away free stickers with his heads? Geez, here I am, his #1 customer, and I didn't get sh1t? How's that for after sales service? Ha ha, Just kidding Mike, Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Interesting.

Also, how do you think he gets these cases so clean? Just hot tank?

I would give him a buzz and ask, but he's so busy all the time he'd probably tell me to get bent.

Very nice mate, I haven't heard from Mike so I might give Ken a call, I've bought a few parts from him over the years and don't have any complaints, and his stuff is fairly priced. Those cases don't look like they've been blasted, so they probably have been "hot tanked". Cheers, Terry. ;D

G'Day Brian, whereabouts are you located mate? I love the idea of using the RC45 pistons.

G'Day Terry

I've got a little Pub in Yanco. Yanco's in southern NSW on the banks of the mighty Murrumbidgee River.
The only RC I've ever spotted was in the Birdwood collection some years ago. I'm glad to hear there are still a few around OZZ.
I know Rexi he supplies HD gear sets & a few other bits & pieces for me.
There's another bloke up in the hills above Melbourne @ Monbulk called Mick De-With. He works out of a little shed at the back of his house just big enough to house his dyno, build room and a small workshop.
And as far as I'm concerned he IS the man when it comes to SOHC Honda engines.
Mick was putting hy-vo motors together long before Rex.
Having said that Rex does a bloody good job, their just two different blokes working from different directions.
I've picked up on a few threads re HY-VO motors on this forum and yes they do produce good HP but the real strength of these motors is the touque that a well built hy-vo can deliver.
If your in Vic. Terry and you have time slip down to Phillip Island for the "Classic" wander into the pits and say G'day.

Cheers,
Brian

G'Day Brian, no worries, I know Rex has got his critics, but I've got a soft spot for him as he helped me out many years ago when he still ran his little shop in Bell Street before he went out on his own. Nowadays he seems to be a member of the motorcycling millionaires club and doesn't do much work for anyone else, but to be fair, his bikes are top notch.

I used to go to the classic religiously every year but I've missed a couple in recent years, but I'll do my best to get there, it's only an hour or so from where I live in Melbourne. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Tez,

You've got it wrong. Rex is still as approachable as ever and has gone out of his way to help an old chair punter from the sticks. Yep your right he has a good little business maintaining high end bikes for the cashed up, but good on him. No law against running a successful business and earning a Quid.
Get down to the "Classic" and we'll have a beer, it's the place to see some of the best SOHC motors in the world.

Cheers,
Brian

Ha ha, well there's "approachable" and "approachable" Brian, I've referred a few new SOHCer's to Rex who wanted performance work done and had money burning holes in their pockets and he fobbed them off, but as I said, he's always been good to me. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Not according to the parts manual Mike, and I just checked my K0 (that hasn't been rebuilt) and the seal is in the same as Kens. That's a newer seal with the metal back exposed, but it's orientation is correct. Cheers, Terry. ;D
