Today is celebrated as the 230th birthday of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps. I'm guessing he is a current, or former member??
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Is it really the "birthday" or is it just a convenient date for an annual celebration (like the Queen has an "official" birthday in the spring - specially for the tourists)

I've always liked the fact that I share the same birthday as the Marines.

If you'd completed your biog, the calendar (  http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=5301.0  ) would have had your birthday on it.

All I can say is Thank god there is no draft!

One of my favorite sayings is "I will kill for alot but I wont die for much"... Kyle Maloney

if the draft was instituted tomarrow I would dodge that mother f'r and move my family to mexico...and sip cool cocktails on the pacific coast...

Politics aside, my hat is off to the Marines. We all sleep well while they're on duty. We all owe them a debt of gratitude, and that extends to ALL divisions of military service in the free world. So, thanks to ALL who serve/have served. Raising my glass!

dont get me wrong...i am glad that someone is shooting someone somewhere on my behalf...

It is those goddamn PROPAGANDA commercials that the armed forces put out that get me angery...

Army of one my ass...in the armed forces the last thing they want is an army of ONE...that type of #$%* will get you in trouble...it is all about the TEAM...not the individual...

the only thing they train you for is "the team"

I hate propaganda...I feel that the armed forces are lying to our youth...the armed forces is not about your manhood...your patriotism...your college education...your honor

right now it is not even about our freedom...

maybe I am wrong...i usually am

I have to agree with you about the "Army of One" slogan.   I know that when it hit the fan for me, I wanted as many other similar trained people around me as I could get.  I think the person who came up with that slogan watched WAY too many Rambo and Chuck Norris movies.

i took a look

im a peacefull man, i dont really want to look at death or the result of killing.

but,

its people like this dead guy you see with C-4 strapped to his chest that want to come here to my front door,
and kill me and my family. they have no remorse for what they do and they encourage their children to kill as many
Americans as they can.

The Men & Women of our Marine Corps and armed forces stand up for us.
They make sure that these psycotic mass murderrs dont come to my front door and all of yours also

when I see immages like this one I realize that Someone has Done this to protect our families, neghbors, friends, and our way of life

i cant immagine what this world would be like without them

I support or troops

I support anything tht keeps my rear off the front lines and doing what I want, when I want...as the law, and my wife allow...

I have no disrespect for soilders...but I in no way feel sorry for them...I do feel for their families when it is needed...the soilders volunteer...thier families do not...

however  I do not blindly support them as many americans do...to me that picture is a reminder of what soilders accually do...not just walk around waving the flag and handing out copies of the declaration of independance and the constitution

I only wish they would top puting our soilders...OUR FREEDOM FIGHTERS...on trial...like the Abu Graib(I am not looking the proper spelling up)...war is war

If they reinstituted the darft...and some how caught me...I would shoot, bomb, stab and burn everyone who didn't know the secret hand shake...I would not wonder or take the time to find out if they were good citizens welcoming me and my fellow troops or the type of individul that I was suppose to rid the world of...and further more if I was sent into a room to get information out of an individual I would come out with it...I would be a soilder or a politician..but not both...in my opinion those who try to be both are not good at either

wow...I need a drink...

single or double malt?

I agree the media has it noze up everyones ass over there.

remember the soilder who shot a combatant lying face down in the mosk

just to make sure.     he did the right thing

but the media played it like the soilder was this evil bastard wanting to murder people in cold blood.

yeah i do agree if they asked me to go i would be hard pressed to find a fast plane to canada.

with support like that who needs propaganda

Yes it does. Happy Birthday Marines! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
