Seems someone took it upon themselves to impersonate Heffay.  This happened before and I don't find it all that funny.  And, judging from the email I just received, this person, who refuses to own up to their hijinx, doesn't find the 30 day ban I placed on the account too funny either.

Unfortunately, no.  I will, however, take greater care to ban the re-use of member names when someone with a long history with the group quits.  Hopefully it doesn't happen often - though it has been far too often as of late.

Glenn, you and the other mods do a great job of keeping this rag tag community functional.  I'm not sure you get told that often enough, but I appreciate all the work that goes into making this thing run as smoothly as possible.

I am not going to comment on the actions of heff since I am not aware of what actually happened either here on the forum or in his personal life. Since I joined this forum, this is the second time that someone I have had contact with has deleted their account and left. I can only hope that the members of SOHC4 remember what the purpose of this media is all about. Now that in the northern hemisphere we are starting to enjoy the change of seasons for the better, I am actually supprised as to how much posting is happening. I would have thought that more and more of us would be out riding and not at home posting on their keyboards. The fact that I only have the one bike that is rideable now, and that I am still recovering from the accident, is the only reason that I find myself pounding away on these plastic keys. Given any option to change those conditions and you would hardly see word one from me. Those of you that are in process of a rebuild/repair/problem solving/info gathering/researching/etc. really BELONG here posting away. And those of you that have the knowledge to help them should be posting the answers. The rest of us are just playing around with engineered time management/consumption. But I guess there is nothing wrong with that either. Find myself rambling on so I will just end with this......everybody needs to chill out a little and start enjoying this place and go out and ride if you can ;D

When I come home or if I am at work and it's slow I will jump on the forum to see what's up.  It has nothing to do with my riding time...nor does it take away from riding time.  We all have different schedules.  Some have a bike they can ride and some have a non-running project.  The Open forum is really just for entertainment....it has nothing to do with building or solving problems.  We are all connected to this particular media due to a common interest and when we get outside of that interest(SOHC4) and into the Open forum we find out that we are not always so similar.  People get their feathers ruffled because someone says something that offends them.  If they leave because of that so be it.  It is their right.  If it comes down to Heffay not liking what someone said about Michael Jackson then tough.  The man was controversial and loved at the same time so people are going to have opinions all over the spectrum.  If he can't understand that and he quits something like this forum because of what one or a couple say then to me it is pretty childish.  I have friends that are bashing Jackson and some that are paying tribute.  I'm not going to cancel my friendships because I don't like one or the other.  I realize other people have opinions and it's no big deal.

That's just the way I see it.

++1

If and when I'm ever presented with the option of either going for a ride or spending time on the computer, I will ALWAYS chose to go for a ride, and I have a feeling it's the same for pretty much everybody else.  Spending time on this forum does not take away from riding time.  Unfortunately for the time-being I don't very often have the option to go for a ride, so I spend more time here.

Now I won't get in to a discussion about Heffay's reasons for leaving, but I will say it was not because of what anybody had to say about Michael Jackson, so please just get that out of your head if it's in there already.  He has his own reasons for leaving, and if he ever feels like it I'm sure he'll tell you.  Until then, though, don't worry about it.

My bad.  Honestly, I can't say why Heffay left for sure.  It was merely speculation on what has already been said.  If he left for other reasons then that's fine.  My point was to myhondas about multiple people leaving the forum in the past and how the Open forum differs from our mutual interest in bikes.  People get upset....some have left because of it.

man... even in death the guy can't get any respect... for shame on all of you.

yes, honestly, i'm dissapointed... the guy was a true icon.  later in life he was a bit of a joke,yes... WHO THE #$%* CARES!

this place would not be the same... without the moonwalk, the Jackson 5, Thriller!

I disagree Gordon, for after he posted the above thread in the SPBT, he then went and started his thread about death and respecting it. Someone then made a comment that didn't sit well with Heffay and he came back with what a bunch of #$%*s everyone was and he was threatining to close his account. Which he then proceeded to do. You won't find that post in his 'Death' thread though because as he has done in the past, he deleted it and a few others before deleting his account. All a rather childish way for a 33 year old man to act. Even if, as you say, it really had nothing to do with MJ, Heff tied it in with the MJ thing and made it personal. I'd say he has a history of getting bent out of shape over things that aren't about him and then later deleting comments he made when they make him look unfavorable. Heff needs to come back but he also needs to grow up.

P.S.: Here is another example of what I'm talking about, although you will only find Heffays posts in our replies to him where he was 'quoted'. Again, because he deleted his original posts.

Hmm, strange stuff IMO....I'm emotionally invested in my sweetie and kids and family and the real people I interface with daily, NOT a website and any of you guys...doesn't mean I wouldn't care if someone told me I was an idiot on this Forum ( hey ,hold it now ! ), but disagree with what I think/ believe, nah....wouldn't cause me to cancel my account !?
Are some people way too 'invested' in this Forum ?, I could see how that could happen easily....

WTF?......All The Way Around,

The entire issue is as clear to me as the Salt River Sewer System here in Phoenix, Arizona.

I've had my skin bruised and banged here several times...... and I have received PM's from members apologizing for what they said to me in postings that they placed online.

Irritating as the comments might have been, the words would not force me away from this forum.  The freely given technical help is just way too valuable and is amongst the best advice around.  It comes from real riders and real hands on mechanics.  I rate the know how here more valuable than what I have heard in many motorcycle repair shops.

The Open Forum and the other non technical board areas are great additions for people with a common interest to simply come together and talk, like a large camping group coming together around the night's camp fire to kick things around for awhile before turning in for the night.

Whatever the circumstances and the reasons, heffay must have some very justifiable cause beyond sticks and stones........

Just as with any news story on TV, there is always more depth to the subject than what is presented to the public for mass consumption.

I think when you delete your account all your posts automatically get removed as well, happened when a mate from Aussie left this year and I wanted to check up on some stuff he had written but it was all gone.
Here for the bikes, advice, comradeship and poke the occasional fun at folks, I've taken my harden the f*#k up pill and sprinkled a little cement on my porridge.  ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
