I too, like where this is going.  Is your hardtail going to include stretching the wheelbase?  How will you keep/check alignment during welding?

I'll leave to swing arm in. I've made some plates that I can actually bolt on the drop outs and the new axle plates. From there it's cutting and bending tubing. Also being level and taking quite a few measurements is required. After the rear is built, I'll unbolt and cut away the rest.

Also got in my velocity stacks. Thinking of leaving to tank and fender raw steel and painting a big red Japanese sun on the side of the tank. To much?

You can get them from coker they are firestones.

I have a set on my bike, and I believe greenjeans has the same set.

fenders not mounted, everythings just mocked up. Coker deluxe chapions front 19 x 4.0 and rear 18 x 4.50. I"m picking up the tubing tomorrow and should have the rear axle drops cut by the end of the week. Hopefully if I every get some spare time this will be hardtailed real soon.

I love those tires too.  But that link says they require tubes...  Is that true?  I haven't seen a tire that used tubes in a long time (granted I don't work in a tire store...).

Yeah pretty much any rim that is spoked is going to require a tube. There are some special spoked rims that are designed to not use a tube, but not on the old hondas. You can use a tubeless tire on a spoked rim but you will still have to run a tube.

I did what you said; cut, bend, measure, cut, bend, measure, bend, measure, measure, ponder, ponder...  What do you think I should do with these last two tubes.  How do you plan to treat these in your hardtail?

I would cut these down tubes to fit the back of the frame and bend them in and weld, i know its not that easy but thats what i would be looking to do, just like the under tank frame rails.

Oh dear!  I have to apologize to 740four for rudely putting a picture of my bike on his project thread.  I have been watching his progress with great interest.  He was part of my inspiration for getting this far.  I have no tank or seat yet, just vague ideas.  I'll start my own thread when I build up the confidence.  Until then, thanks for the support and lets see see the great bike 750four is building.

750four, please accept my apologies...kerryb

covers schmoothers....
Working on the head now. Ideas behind strengthening the cam tower bolts. Other than helicoils. Also Cycle x Dual carb, hi performance valve springs, heavy cam chain, and en-695 (.370/282) cam on a stock bottom end? Looking to ride this summer and than build the bottom end next winter(budget). Thoughts?? Maybe a way to get away with it without just rinsing the cyclinders with gas all day? Different plugs?
