Red wheels?
« on: September 24, 2013, 06:25:58 pm »
Playing with the idea of painting a set of Henry Abe's red to go on my 550?

Has anyone done this?

I might photoshop up an image to see, but thought maybe someone out there had already done this?

Red looks great on red bikes..chrome is way overdone and tacky... Painted the trees and headlite shell can make a bike look better too, in many cases..

Thanks for the input. Thinking on it in that direction (& in relation to my bike) I may consider going white.
Seems that all the "wheel paint" available are on a monotone scale.
Duplicolor makes a matte clear coat in that series, not certain if that would allow me to put whatever color underneath then protect with the clear?

I used that duplicolor wheel clear over duplicolor engine paint , worked fine, put it over duplicolor clear metal flake, also worked fine.
White wheels....ever wonder why you don't see many white wheels?
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

I had a bike with cast white wheels.  Well, 10% of the time.  Chain lube and brake dust kept them dirty.
I like black wheels when they are cast.  I also like stainless spokes and aluminum rims, too.  I do like plain unpainted cast aluminum wheels, too.
Why not red,  it will look great.

Here's a red pair on my commuter 400- it's not a bad colour at all, doesn't show up the brake dust too badly either.
