Oh man, I got a call from the funeral home just as I was going to pick my Daughter up from Bost. The death certificates were in and ready for me to pick up. :-\ Have to tell you that this was a very Flakey moment for me. I mean, this makes things really sink in (not really what I meant to say, but I lost my thought). I had to take one to Bost, to process the paper work for life insurance and such. And, while I was going through the hall to leave, one of the ladies that we coordinate through, spoke to me and I went in her office and talked ( I must have looked like I needed to (and I DID need to talk about Brenda. :-\ Even though I was kinda wanting to get the certificates, so I can get things settled. But, when I was actually going to get them, I really started to get this feeling that I was going to lose it and I guess that lady at Bost realized that. It did me good to talk to her and she made me feel relaxed, we (Brenda and I) have known her for quite some time. Was planning to go with a buddy and take care of my Dad's lawn tomorrow, now I am scheduled with 2 appointments at Bost (one with James and see just what his schedule is going to be like AND another one that afternoon, to go through the paperwork concerning the life insurance and such. To not make my day any better, I was also informed that the Special Ed. (so called) teacher that had James and Joey (we I mean I work with both these youngmen) was a new worker for Joey! :o >:( This is not good! That woman got bent out of shape at Brenda one year because Brenda had asked the teacher in charge of the Prom, about some little details to give them James, Joey and their dates, a really sense of being out on a Special Double Date Type Evening. That Spec. Ed Teacher got TOTALLY BENT OUT OF SHAPE, called Brenda on her cell phone  (Brenda was in the chair getting her hair done, at the time)  and proceeded to chew her out drastically (best word I could come up with, for the moment)!!!!!!!!! I just don't see how this could be happening AND Joey's parents didn't tell me, Bost did. I am assured that my needs will be met first and the other 2 will have to work around MY needs. My first instinct was to drop Joey. But, I need to back up, check the situation out, figure what my needs are and act accordingly. I really expect that, if I can get things in better control (financially), I'll have only one to work with after a little while. That teacher best keep her distance from me though, I can guarantee that! I'm going to go for now, I'm still wound up, but I have to do something about supper soon.

Was looking back through the thread about cars, that Mike (mikedialect) did and found photos I had posted of our cars.

Here is the 69' road runner coupe that I had when i met Brenda and the one that I covered Little Rock for a month trying to find her again.

Then here is her 69', now Mine ;D and Her New 76'

When I get to where I can, I'll post a photo of her 69' before the red paint.

I had forgotten that YOU had one also. ::) That's cool, and then with a name like Bill....... ;D

i learned to speed shift in my friend's '69 (and a half) 440+6.  i had forgotten many folks made that torque thrust mag style. e-t had some other very cool wheels too!

consider our selves lucky to have memories filled with real cars, not little wheeze bags, and the people we met along the way.

Oh Man! "A 440+6 (Dodge called it the 6-pack)!!!!!! I'd give (nearly) ANYTHING to ride in one, much less DRIVE one. 8) 8) 8) 8)

I have only seen ONE in real life and I was in AWE! I DID get the chance to drive an AAR Cuda ONCE and it was OUTTA SIGHT!! I was gonna check out a 69' (only year made, for those who don't know) Charger Daytona, at a used car lot in Little Rock once and that sucker wouldn't even unlock the doors to let me check it out!! BTW, I had already met Brenda by then and so I wouldn't have been messing with fate or anything. ;) If I would have ended up with that Daytona, I promise you that I'd have to let her drive in to work. ::) :D ;)

Folks, I found out today, from Our Family Doctor AND his Nurse, that They figured out that Brenda had CANCER in her female area, possibly the uterous (spelling?).  And that, if we would have made it to the Hemotologist, which she had an appointment with on that fateful Wednesday (July 1st) in the afternoon, it would have been found. No doubt too late, but it would have been found. I don't know how Karla is holding up, I'm so glad that she is. I don't know how I've held up as well as I have, which isn't very good. I still believe however, that Brenda is responsible for the fact that I was able to find that GPZ on ebay, that it wasn't that far away AND that the price wasn't too bad. She knew just how I felt about motorcycles and I figure that she wanted me to be able to keep on going and she knew that I would be better able to, with a distraction. If not for that, I'd be forever stuck in the "Not Facing Reality" mode. :(

Okay, I'm trying to keep up the brave front, but I have those times that I'm just not so brave.

You just go out and polish "Brenda's" tank then take her for a nice ride where you know she would like to go to. :)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

This is in relation to nothing but I keep thinking of this song by the Screaming Blue Messiahs...
" Got a 440 six pack under my hood, need a medicine man to make me feel good..."
Knew a guy who had one and he told me stories. But all the stories seem to end the same as the Honda CB stories... " Never should have gotten rid of that..."
The one constant, change.

Yeah, I agree, shoulda kept those 2 road ruinners AND that red 66' Charger. Somehow, I kinda failed to acknoledge this GoatBass. Sorry bout' that.

Just wanted to let you all know that I AM getting to where I can go and do things (more so) with out having a problem. Then like the other night, we (Karla/my Daughter, Joey/ young man Brenda & I worked with, James/ another young man Brenda & I worked with and myself went out to our favorite Mexican food restaurant to eat (where ALL of us had gone off and on for years. First time we ALL had gone together since Brenda's passing and I have to tell you, I kept seeing her and hearing things that she would say.  Damn, seems like I do pretty good and next thing I know 9completely out of the blue) all these feeling just come rushing out and "Nail Me"!

Well, it's 2Am and guess I'd better try to get some sleep, it was about this time yesterday morning before I went to bed to get some sleep. I'm trying to go earlier, but next thing I know, it's very late.

Well, something has triggered a setback, on my trying to keep on moving (since losing my Wife). I've been kinda having a time of it this morning. And, I needed to get another arrangement to put at Brenda's grave, so I stopped by the florist that we use. As I was talking with a young woman there, about an arrangement. Another lady came out from the area, where they fix up the flower arrangements and such, and she started telling me about how Karla had put her daughter (who is also Special Needs) in for an award because of her work and such. SHe said that her daughter was so excited and she (the Mother) wanted me to know all about it and said that Karla was such aa special person and that her Mother (Brenda) must have really been a Special Lady. Of course I agreed. So, the 1st lady showed me what they had and told me the prices. I picked one out that had Pink (Brenda's favorite color) and white flowers on it. Now, this was a $40 arrangement and 'm telling the price not to be bragging, but because the young lady told me that the cost had been taken care of. That lady who Karla had put her Daughter in for that award, had taken care of those flowers! :'(  I don't care how this sounds, but I didn't think I was going to make it out of there without breaking down. I can't wait to tell Karla about it, I hope I can keep my composure when I do though. Suddenly, today, I seem to be very vunerable. Not sure, why today. Suddenly I'm wondering why I thought buying those 2 motorcycles would help me to get on with things.  Oh byes, I wanted them, but I think I thought that I would get them and i would be mainly focused on them. And it did go that way for a little bit. Whew! :-\ THis is going to be hard, but I know that I have to just put my mind to the things that have to be done and work past the present and move on with my life. This DOES NOT mean that I think I can MOVE AWAY from everything. I will ALWAYS remember her and what we had AND I'll have Karla (who WE created) to help as she can. Need to go, things to do.

Bill, those items are only a distraction. They will never help heal anything nor were they really intended to I am sure. The only thing will help heal is time and not nearly enough of it has passed yet. You will have good days and bad days but slowly and surely the bad days will wain and the good ones will get more plentiful.

It is perfectly fine for you to struggle some and take the time you need to heal but from what you have shared of Brenda she was way too giving of a person to want you to focus on her and dwell too much. I hope that comes off right...the written word can be misinterpreted so easily.

Let the bikes continue to fill their role in terms of taking up some of your idle time and thoughts. Focus on Karla and your dad etc....eventually you won't stop think of Brenda but you will slowly change HOW you think of her. Hopefully in time stories like the one you just shared will bring a smile to your face rather than a tear to your eye.

Yeah, I know that you are right Dennis. I was doing pretty fair for a bit (I would say, kinda "Hit & Miss" when asked how I was doing) and in the last few days, it seems like I've had more and more times when I just can't believe that she's gone, much less BURIED! It seems like I should be talking about someone else, NOT Brenda! It feels good to have folks that I can talk to (and it REALLY DOES seem like you all ARE family, of who I am really appreciative of ALL the support that I have received during this time. I'm looking for several things to happen (looking to have some nice "Day Long" weather that I can manage to just break loose (have everyone taken care of), hop on the GPZ or CBX and just head off down the hwy for an hour or 2 and come back, being more relaxed and my head, at least somewhat, cleared. I think THAT will feel REALLY GOOD and be GOOD for me! Then, every so often, do it all over again.

Better get on with it and see about getting some things done, Thank you Dennis, Bill ;)

I musta been sleeping Bill! I knew about the GPZ (or GPZed as it is said in real English  ;) ) But I had no idea you added a CBX to your stable. I knew from previous posts it was on the wish list but didn't realize you had pulled the trigger! Care to point me in the direction of the post so I can drool over the pics??

Hey Dennis. No problem, I do that quite often, it seems. It was just one of those things where I have a buddy who had a beautiful one that he'd gone over and also detailed it out to look similar to the pictures of a Black on w/ a black engine (that has some polished that he'd done up) Soon as I can, I'll get some pictures of mine and post them, sending YOU some of course. The biggest difference between the black one that you will see, is on mine, the polished covers aren't finned, the seat on mine is stock, mine has standard pods for air cleaners and the ehaust on mine looks like the Kerker on this one, but it isn't. About a week after I got the GPZ, my buddy Eddie and I were talking (on the phone) and during the course of conversation, I mentioned that there was a guy (off of ebay) up in Salem Arkansas, who was trying to get me to buy his Suzuki GS1000 and Eddie told me that he knew how I felt about his CBX and, if I wanted it he would make me a deal on it (for less than he COULD get for it, because he'd feel better knowing it was in good hands. So, I accepted and have paid half of it off, hoping to get it home soon as I make some space.      Anyway, with that being said, here is the link.   http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=56457.0

bill, i haven't commented lately simply because anything i feel i could add would be trite and insignificant compared to what you are dealing with. frankly, there have been some profound words of wisdom posted i could not possibly add to.

my thoughts are with you however.

btw: that cbx is fantastic!

be well.

Thanks Bill, I know that, after a while things can seem kinda repeticious and I understand, I've gone through the same with other threads that were of a similar nature. My situation is going to be sorta up and down for a long time, I'm sure.  I jst have these moments now and then. Sometimes more NOW than at other times. :(

I'm working on getting on with things as best as I can. And I really appreciate all the support from you and the others, it means so much. ;)

And, as soon as I can get things squared away so that I can put that CBX in my garage, I'll be bringing THAT one down and I'll try to do up some photos of it AND put them up, with a report of how this one rides and all. 8) I'm still kinda amazed that it is MINE.

Was looking back through the thread about cars, that Mike (mikedialect) did and found photos I had posted of our cars.

Here is the 69' road runner coupe that I had when i met Brenda and the one that I covered Little Rock for a month trying to find her again.

Bill, if that wasn't one sweet 2dr sedan, I don't know what would be. Nice...very nice.
When the majority of the United States population get to be 70 years old, they will finally realize what is really important. And by then it'll be too late.

Thank you, I was pretty proud of it. It was pretty much stock, only changes I made were to add a set of E-T Unilug wheels (doing away with the steel wheels that had hubcaps on them)! Pictur doesn't do it real justice though. When I got it, the Petty blue paint was pretty dull (it was only a year old, I got it in 1970) and I rubbed that sucker out for what seemed like forever, until it had a high gloss. Then I worked those wide racing stripes on the hood, over til they looked really good .  Then, after I got those wheel and new tires, I cleaned them when I washed the car, which was daily and I waxed it once a week. Other that that, I just gassed it and drove it (maintaining it of course). I've NEVER seen another one that was painted THAT color or had that color AND the black racing stripes on the hood, along with the black vinyl top. I'd seen a lot of the 69's over the years and loads of photos online and have yet to see another one like that. That being said, I haven't seen another one exactly like HER's either. a 2dr hdtp, painted Metallic Gold with a painted WHITE top and the Styled (Magnum) wheels.  I wish I had more pictures of it.

Hey Bill.Been away for a bit meself, sounds like your hangin in there.I can add a bit to our Chryco Cronicles.I was the proud owner of a '69 Super Bee.It was "only" a 383 but was a ton o fun.My high school buddy talked his parents into buying a '69 440-6pack 4 speed Road Runner complete with the fiberglass lift off hood! That was a treat to ride in .For a time I worked with a guy with the same green Bee as me cept he had the 426 mill. What a monster!I managed to wrap my unit around a telephone pole and learned the joys of 2 more years of car payments but without the car!  Remember the good times and Rock On.

I AM managing to get along with things better. I still have my moments and I know that I always WILL but, at least I am able to start getting some things done. Thanks for the concern. ;)

Good to hear of yet another Mopar Experience too! Never had the experiences with a 6-pk or a Hemi, but di have a buddy with a 68' Coronet R/T (440 Magnum) that would seem to fly! I've seen 150 in that car, after he asked me "Ever try to count telephone poles at 150MPH?" I said "No" and next thing I knew we were accelerating pretty quickly! Wasn't long before I was ready to slow back down, at least somewhat.

Nowdays, my only Mopar is a 2006 Dodge Gran Caravan with a 3.8 V-6. And while it sure isn't the old 383 or 440 that I'd previously had, it WILL spin a front tire, if you try to take off too quickly (and it's not a slick tire either AND, it's even done it with my Dad in the front with me.  Only things with SPEED and POWER around my house now, are the CBX and the GPZ1100, but THEY SRE pretty impressive at that AND they didn't cost anywhere near as much as a road runner, Super Bee, Coronet or Charger R/T etc......! ;)

Thank you for your input, Bill ;)
