That is a wonderful way to start this day.

Only ONE way, it could have been better, it it would not have been a dream!

Thanks Joe, It WAS a great way to start the day, with a gift from Brenda.

Happy Anniversary Bill!

I'm glad you awoke to such a lovely dream.

Thank you very much for that, IT was such a fantastic dream, that I would give ANYTHING (and EVERYTHING I HAVE) for it to become reality! It was THAT Good! Brenda looked SO good! I was just in AWE, just like I was the FIRST time I saw her! She was my EVERYTHING! ;)

nice Bill,

Happy Anniversary.

Paul

Happy aniversary Bill! keep yer head up, it will get easier.

Thank you Paul & Jeff, It was pretty good overall. The Best part was that AWESOME Dream just before I woke up and the worse part was, I just could not go to that restaurant where WE used to go for Special Occasions. Other than that It was a GOOD day! Only thing that could have made it better, would be to have HER there with me. ;)

Yeah, today marks 8 months since Karla and I lost Brenda. Karla started the day off pretty well I thought. First thing she said this morning was, "I guess you know that today is 8 moths since it happened" Of course I knew what she meant by "It Happened" and I acknowledged it. She didn't say anything else and I took her to work. Apparently, it slowly built, over the rest of the day and this afternoon, her worker called me and said that Karla was having a problem with it and Karla wanted me to pick her up early. So naturally, I went right up there and she seemed to be pretty collected by the time I got there. Sarah, her waiver worker is just like part of the family and does wonders with Karla, at times when she might not respond as well to me and vice versa. Took her out to eat, we talked and I was cutting up with her, like I do, when it's just us and she responded well. We came home, listened to the "Oldies" cassettes on my stereo and she has gone to bed and sleeping peacefully. That girl has held on like a rock during all of this and I am so proud of her. She really wants us to be able to move on and she hopes that things work out well with Audry as well, because she knows that her Mother wouldn't want us to just exist here and be so glum about her being gone. Karla has held out so much better than Sarah and I ever thought she would. She's pretty strong about things though, just like her Mother was. About the only thing Brenda had trouble getting over, was the passing of her Dad (she Never got over that).

Just an example of how things are going here.

Brenda had a problem then AND on Father's Day, I'd catch her dabbing at her eyes with a kleenex and I'd pretend not to have noticed.

Karla has been SO strong during all of this and so supportive of my need to have someone in my life (after I realized that I really needed someone) and she knows that her Mother's memory is not going to be slighted in any way. Karla also knows Audry and has for a while now AND really likes her. Ever since July 1st, Karla has only had an obvious problem about 3 times that I know of and they were brief. Sarah and I don't think that Karla has really grieved the loss of her Mother, although Lord knows that I have. I just want to say also that I haven't been pushing Karla to accept anything that she isn't ready to either. I have been totally upfront with anything and everything that concerns our lives. She's trying so hard to stand up and be so mature about all of this. You have to remember (as I sometimes do too) that even though Karla is 32yrs old, mentally, she is between about 12 - 15 yrs old in some ways. AND, to see how she takes somethings and responds, you'd think that she didn't have a problem. Then, at other times, her comprehension problem shows itself and/or her lacking, mentally, will be more apparent. So, sometimes, I forget that she even has a problem (that handicaps her) and I expect more when she can't give it and vise versa.

Thankfully though, THIS particular episode has passed and we can move on til next time. This is the very reason that Brenda and I stopped, with having only one child. We knew that Karla would require a lot of attention and treatments over the years. We almost lost her in '96 and that has become etched in my brain forever.

Well, I guess I'd better turn this thing off (I have once and turned it back on) and get to bed. It's midnight here and Tuesday has a schedule just like everyday does, around here.

                           Take care All, Bill ;)

Thank you Jeff, but Brenda deserves most all of the credit! Main thing I did was  to be able to land Brenda as my Wife for Life (her's at least), land a decent Civil Service job to provide for us and stick with it all. I ain't gonna lie, Brenda was the BEST! Oh, I've got good morals and had the good sense to stick with it (so many families end up with a divorce, where there is a child with "Special Needs"), but Brenda was the driving force.

Karla is a very sensitive, caring person who likes to help others the best she can. Sometimes, she can get sideways with someone because she misunderstands what's going on and I can usually reason with her (If I can't, then we call on Sarah).

Brenda and Karla WERE my main reason for living!

Bill, Karla will have to grieve in her own way and in line with her ability to do so. There is no such thing as death in the mind since we have memories, we only wish they were in the here and now.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Very good point Bobby. With Karla, sshe went for 18 years of her life, without shedding one tear. Brenda brought that to my attention, AFTER she had the brain surgery back in '96 and I hadn't even thought of it. She mainly does it now, when she's having anxiety problems. When Brenda's Dad passed away on Aug of '03, Karla was strong until about a week afterwards and then she had problems with anxieties. I was really expecting that she would go for about the same time frame (or close to it). Sarah (her waiver worker) and I feel like she's held so strong for 2 reasons. #1, she's trying to Be There for me and #2, She seems to feel like she had to move up and take over for her Mother and she was calling people to tell them about her Mother passing away and trying to make sure that I did all that I was saying that I had to do. All in all though, she's been MY rock through all of this. She just wants things back on track, as close as possible AND she wants ME to be happy. She's always offering to help by doing things that I really need to do myself. And, Bless her Heart, she want Audry and me to get together as well. She is simply amazing and does things that will make you forget that she is handicapped. She's Her Mother's Daughter!

Take care and Thanks for your input, Bill ;)

Hey Bill,

I haven't been on here in ages, but clicked on the "wrong" bookmark this morning and found this post.  Just wanted to let you know that, even if you don't see me on here, you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Hope you all have a great day!
